I've always adored the relationship between Eleanor and Marianne; it is so much like that of my sister and me.

Maybe I'm biased in my memory of this book and the teacher for whose class I read it, but in my memory, To Kill a Mockingbird is beautiful in that raw, revealing way. It's sad but hopeful. It's about courage. It's about how the world is, how life is, and how a person grows into life.

I loved this book. I couldn't put it down at all--I snuck in a few pages in class, even. I really hope the movie turns out well. Since it's been a couple of years since I originally read the book, I should enjoy it, but I have a feeling it won't capture the magic in these pages.

I love a good mother-daughter story and The Joy Luck Club is no exception. It's not perfect and it's a little sentimental, but it is really an enjoyable read.
