it was a good read. the author created an amazing atmosphere and characters that make the audience infuriated, which was the intention.

my complaints are that it took almost half the book to get into the plot and the story didn’t go in the best direction it could have. lots of potential to explore the dark horror of the wild folk more and barely even touched on the native american roles, which is ironic because of ‘villain’ Mamunappeht’s importance.

overall it was an enjoyable read but it bugs me the amount of potential this has to be better. though i would still recommend it for a nice october read.

robert’s transformation and louisa’s realization in the second part were done beautifully. didn’t care too much about preston and karina.

there were a few little decisions that stopped me from making this a 4.5 star, so overall i really liked it

i thought the excessive overthinking on gilda’s end and her inner dialogue were relatable on most parts.

tbh didn’t care too much abt grace’s death but it was still somewhat intriguing.

this was, surprisingly, very good.

there are a couple of things that are pretty predictable, but most things were still kept a mystery. i flew through this book and couldn’t put it down.

so excited to read book two and three!

first half was really slow, but when it picked up i was flying through pages.

the second half was really emotional as well. it teaches the importance and value of literature and how it affects human life.

zeno’s whole story tore me apart and i’m still not over it
