tropes - grumpy x sunshine, best friends brother, small town, road trip, runaway bride, forced proximity, one bed

i really really enjoyed this book! i could have read it in one sitting. i kept wanting to find out what was going to happen next. it also had me giggling and kicking my legs. the banter between miles & victoria was perfect. this is the first book i’ve read by kristen and i’m excited to read more!

victoria - i loved her personality! she’s full of life and i love how she slowly brings out miles fun side. i aspire to have her confidence.

miles - i love a grumpy mmc! learning about his childhood trauma pulled at my heart strings. i love his protectiveness & willingness to do whatever it was to make victoria happy. & his nickname for her 🥹

my favorite quotes -
“i can’t explain this feeling, this urge to make sure she’s safe and taken care of, but it’s strong, and it’s something i can no longer ignore. i won’t let her do this alone, not when i have the power to help.”

“i want this. take me, miles. make me yours. ruin me forever.”

“i feel like someone wants me for me, and that feels pretty damn special.”

what a great debut novel! i really enjoyed this book. throughout this story it had me giggling kicking my legs, crying, and on the edge of my seat. the best way to hook me into a story is throw back chapters. i love getting a look into the characters past. one of my most favorite things about a book.

colton - i love a mmc glow up. seeing him go from a cocky bull rider to dropping everything for honey. talk about swoon 🥰

honey - i related to her so much as a pcos girlie myself. her story brought me to tears. her resilience is so admirable.

fav quote: “i undeerstood that all the pain and pining we’d suffered made us even more grateful for the second chance we’d been given.”

honorable mentions:

“hang on dorothy! we’re not in kansas anymore!” - as a kansas girlie, i’m here for the wizard of oz reference

“in front of me stood an american cowboy, the type that made authors like elsie silver rich.” - YES loved this quote

thank you so much to landyn & luna literary for the arc. i am so grateful.

wow, wow, wow. this is a debut novel for landyn and it was fantastic! it’s a slooooooow burn, & i ate it up. i love when authors have chapters that are from the past. it makes me feel like i’m really connecting with the characters story.

stetson & gus - i really enjoyed watching their connection grow. they both had their demons and i appreciate that they did not let those demons take control.

the nickname little filly?! yess please.

micro trope of secret tattoos?!?! my absolute favorite.

the ending?!?! i am SAT for what’s to come for the trauma bond series.

gimmie ALL the morally grey cowboy mmcs & badass cowgirl fmcs, please & thank you.
