The Bad Weather Friend by Dean Koontz

It was fine as a book, but not exactly a thriller. I didn’t mind any of the characters, but none of them really engaged me. Plus, for whatever reason, the constant bouncing back and forth between present and past really distracted and annoyed me.
You Love Me by Caroline Kepnes

I was actually kind of heartbroken for Joe in this one. The twist was interesting, but the epilogue left me a little flat. I think knowing there’s more to Joe’s story after everything that happened in this book kind of lessened the impact on a way.
For You and Only You by Caroline Kepnes

Interesting journey for Joe at first, but eventually it felt a little too much like an outlet for the author. I was never really taken with Wonder—not like I was with RIP Mary Kay—so I never really cared if she and Joe got together or not. And I liked Joe considerably less in this book, which honestly is probably a good thing. I’m also a lot more neurotic about my Goodreads habits, such as they are. Ah well.
The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald

This is a perfectly charming book, itself a bit of a love letter to books. The pace was far slower than I’m used to, and honestly, it was a nice palate cleanse from my deep dive into Caroline Kepnes’ “You” series. A collection of light character studies, a sweet-if-a-bit-predictable plot, and thank goodness for a complete archive of every book and author mentioned throughout. This is a good choice for a cozy escape.
The Last Murder at the End of the World by Stuart Turton

I found this book to be slow-paced, exposition-heavy, and tedious to read. The description of the book was more enticing than the book itself, which was disappointing. Did not finish.
In Any Lifetime by Marc Guggenheim

I probably would have enjoyed this more if I hadn’t just finished watching the Dark Matter series. I liked that it delved into the science of multiple universes more than most fiction does, but the romantic angle seemed a bit simplistic and contrived. It also leaned a bit too much on the drama of fertility, which in the aftermath of Roe v Wade just sort of hit me the wrong way. Seeing the plot to fruition was my main motivator in pushing through the constant time jumping, which made it difficult for me to stay focused.
