Just finished The Perfect Son by Freida McFadden and gave it a solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! I guessed the twist around 67%, but honestly? I still loved watching it all unfold. Freida really knows how to keep you guessing, especially in that first half. I was suspicious of everyone!
True to her style, the chapters were super short (love that!) and the pacing made it such an easy, bingeable read. I always enjoy books with multiple POVs, it adds so much depth and keeps things moving.
Freida’s quickly becoming one of my go-to authors when I need a twisty, fast-paced thriller. Can’t wait to knock more of her books off my list this year!

Out of My Mind had me really thinking about how many nonverbal people are trapped inside brilliant minds, just waiting to be understood. As someone who works in special education, this story hit me right in the feels.
Sharon Draper took on a major challenge writing from the POV of an 11-year-old girl with cerebral palsy—and she did a beautiful job capturing Melody’s frustration, intelligence, and spark. I wanted to love this book completely. And while there were definitely moments that moved me, the overall storyline just didn’t work for me like I hoped it would. The ending, especially, was a letdown… enough to drop it from 4 stars to 3.
That said, I’ll absolutely be watching the movie—and I hope we keep seeing more books and films that center around disability, amplify these voices, and show just how special and strong these individuals really are.
I really thought I was gonna love this one—especially being such a big Cher fan—but it didn’t totally hit the mark for me. The audiobook is 16 hours long and only covers half her life… whew. Some of the personal stories felt like filler, and I found myself wishing for a bit more focus.
That said, getting a behind-the-scenes look at her rise to fame and her complicated dynamic with Sonny was super interesting. And honestly, the best parts were when Cher narrated herself—her voice just brings it to life in a way no one else could.
Will I read Part Two? I’m on the fence. But if you’re a die-hard Cher fan or love a good “rags to riches” story, you still might enjoy this one.

Okay, Moonlight Beauty and I had a rocky relationship. I almost DNF’d this one a few times, but I stuck with it—and I’m kinda glad I did… kinda.
First off, if you’re picking this up because you’re a fan of Beauty and the Beast retellings, you might want to pretend it’s not one. And don’t even get me started on the first transformation scene… I felt cheated out of what should’ve been a big, magical moment.
The pacing was a little uneven, it took awhile to get somewhere interesting. But to be fair, it’s a super quick read. The writing felt geared toward a younger audience, though the spicy scenes and innuendos definitely pushed it back into adult territory—kind of an odd combo.
All that said… the ending actually kind of worked for me. It wrapped things up in a satisfying way, even if the journey there was a bit bumpy.

From the very first page, The Defense had me hooked! Steve Cavanagh sure knows the way to my heart with the heart-pounding tension and nonstop suspense. I’m so glad I decided to go back and start the Eddie Flynn series from the beginning.
This one doesn’t have quite as many crazy twists as some of the later books, but honestly? It’s the perfect introduction to Eddie’s character and the wild world he operates in. I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough! Can’t wait to see what chaos Eddie gets into next.

It blows my mind that back in the 1920s, you were considered a spinster if you weren’t married by 25. Seriously?? Wild.
I’ll be honest, at first, Loreda came off like such a spoiled brat, but wow… she grew on me in the best way. By the end, I was absolutely rooting for her.
This book wrecked me, but in the best, most beautiful way. It made me really sit back and think: anytime I feel like life’s been hard, it’s nothing compared to the sheer heartbreak, prejudice, starvation, and devastation people lived through during the Great Depression.
The Four Winds is powerful, heartbreaking, and inspiring all at once. I could not put it down, even when my heart felt like it was breaking. Definitely a 5-star read for me!
Wow… where do I even start with The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue? This book was an experience. It’s such a slow burn, but in the best, most immersive way — the kind of story you just sink into. VE Schwab’s writing is lyrical and absolutely beautiful; every page felt like poetry.
Addie’s relationship with Luc?? So toxic… but also, heartbreakingly real. When you’ve been alone for centuries, I get why she’s drawn to him. The loneliness just seeps off the page. And the concept of being forgotten by everyone you meet, except for one day a year? It hit me so hard. The words “I remember you” carry so much weight when you’re basically a ghost of a person.
The non-linear timeline kept me completely hooked, and let me just say — the way I consumed this book??? I devoured it. I loved it so much. 5 stars, no question.
Addie might be cursed to be forgotten, but she’s truly an unforgettable character. A life no one will remember, but a story you’ll never forget. This is one of the most unique and gorgeously woven books I’ve ever read. I’ll be thinking about it for a long time.

Just finished Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica, and whew—this one had me intrigued from the start! I really enjoyed the dual timelines and multiple POVs—it gave the story a layered, emotional feel that pulled me in. It’s labeled as fast-paced, but honestly, it read more like a slow to moderate burn for me… and I didn’t mind that! The tension built steadily, and the mystery kept me flipping pages.
This was a solid 4-star read until the end. The twist? Pretty clever, but it felt like it came crashing in during the last twenty pages, and I needed a little more time to sit with it. Some of it felt a bit implausible, but not enough to totally ruin the ride.
Overall, I’d call this one a decent thriller with a good plot and a few jaw-dropping moments, even if it didn’t fully stick the landing.
I don’t think I’ve ever read a grumpy/sunshine trope where the female is the grump—and honestly, it was kinda fun! The Spellshop had some sweet moments and a charming setting, but overall it leaned a little too fluffy and cozy for my usual taste.
The writing? Solid.
The plot? Decent.
The ending? Satisfying.
But the vibes? Just not quite my genre.
If you love magical bookstores, slow-building stories, and quiet fantasy with heart, this might be your jam. For me, it was a pleasant read, just not one I’d rave about. 3 stars from this grump!
Never Lie by Freida McFadden —whew—what a ride! I immediately had an assumption but that would have been too easy… and of course, Freida had other wild twists up her sleeve. I was spiraling with theories the whole time!
In true Freida fashion, this one was fast-paced, super bingeable, and packed with short chapters that had me saying “just one more” until it was way past my bedtime. The ending? I didn’t see that twist coming at all, and while one of my guess wasn’t totally off, my gut about a certain character ended up being right.
