"when Alberto asked me to marry him I said yes. I asked him how he expected to live with me if he was in love with somebody else, and he said that if I loved him very much and was very brave we might make out very well together." Dude deserved to be shot in between the eyes. genius writing, gossipy but deadly unsentimental.

Every single person should read this book. Assata was an absolute legend when it came to organizing.
Voyager: Constellations of Memory by Nona Fernández

I think the cover is absolutely beautiful but the metaphor didn't work for me as well as I thought it would and I found the last 20 pages or so a bit sentimental. Did not feature the voyagers enough.

And also I loved reading about starts, fully prepared to become completely OBSESSED with stars. Absolutely learn so much about Chile reading Fernandez and the lingering impact of dictatorship.

Note to self: learn more about Chilean history

reading the way that anne carson arranges words together is like standing against the wind and letting it peel you clean. I die. RIP me, I'm dead and also the most alive i've ever been.

“Four of the roses were on fire.
They stood up straight and pure on the stalk, gripping the dark like prophets
and howling colossal intimacies
from the back of their fused throats."

I will never not think about Geryon forever: ”Geryon was a monster and everything about him was red”
