It’s a very short read with an interesting concept. I liked the story of the flashbacks better than the present but it was a fun revenge story. But because it’s so short I don’t feel like I can rate it anymore than 2 stars because it didn’t really have an impact on me.
It wasn’t badly written I can say that much. But some of the parts before the trigger warning page seemed unnecessary. Well it all was unnecessary but as a short disturbing read you do get what you came for.
I just thought this book was going to be so much more. Very disappointed at the ending. Maybe it would’ve have been more thrilling when it was published but it just seemed to wrap up in the whole shebang of personal dilemma that just didn’t have any impact. The story could’ve gone so much better with having Eric arrive sooner and pushing the boundaries of Franks character. But instead we got nearly a whole chapter talking about Frank being drunk and an awful lot of talk about running. The wasp factory itself was cool though.
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

This was so boring, it all turning out to be so scientific bored the crap out of me. And the ending? A flop in my opinion. I was so excited for it to take a good turn with so much left of the book but when it finished and nearly all the rest of the pages were a playlist, essay and cocktail recipes (which I guess is kinda cool) I was just underwhelmed. It felt childish and I was so excited for more. Rats with mould!? I mean that’s so cool, but what happened? They wrote an article. Just meh
The way it all wrapped together oh my gosh this was so good!! This was really well written that I didn’t have myself guessing the real plot till the twist and I was so amazed at the progression of the story. Obviously it was rather weird but in such a well written way. It wasn’t all shock factor which I was so happy to find out, it was a well thought out crazy story.
I actually really loved this book. I found it interesting, after reading the authors note, that Brett Easton Ellis was an inspiration which I find fascinating due to the similarities of American Psycho to A Certain Hunger. The psychopaths, the info dumping on their special interests, having a moment where their sanities slip. However I find this book a hell of a lot easier to read than I did American Psycho. I also found it to be beautiful written and at times hilarious. Overall a great experience!
Uhm well this was something. Didn’t realise how insanely disgusting this was. The whole time reading this my face like: 😦. The writing was well done but I really can’t give it anymore than 3 stars with how absolutely sick I felt after reading it. The little nods to the gruesome stuff really made it so that my mind wandered to horrible places which made the whole thing 10x worse.
Edit: Reviewing this book later I have to give it more stars for how much it impacted me. This is my top splatterpunk book in a long time.

Specifically talking about ‘Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke’ I thought, with what I’ve heard online, it would be more grossness. The format was awesome and unique but I felt it lacking on substance and so badly wanted more. The other two stories were interesting but nothing to write home about. Like what happened to James’ body?. Overall a fun experience to read and I read it very fast.
I felt like this was performative art in a book. The visuals are stunning. I particularly found it interesting how we only hear from outer perspective on the main character making it all the more vague but extremely interesting to hear what’s going on. Loses 1/4 of a star because the ending had me a bit confused.
I listened to this as an audio book and I highly recommend that. The atmosphere added to it by the sounds and voices make the story so much more in depth. As for the plot itself it’s very fast paced but I like the scene setting and the gross plague like aura the whole book has. It would garner more stars from me if the book had a bit more story and wasn’t as predictable.
