Library Wars: Love & War, Vol. 2 by Kiiro Yumi
One of my favorite parts of this volume is the additional backstory for our two main characters, Iku and Dojo. Learning more about their pasts makes me like them both even more! Their history is just too cute, and the fact that one remembers their past meeting while the other has forgotten creates such an adorable tension between them. Every little hint at the truth makes me even more excited to see how it all unfolds.
The mix of action, romance, and social commentary continues to be spot-on, and I can’t wait to read the next installment! If you love books about books (and the people willing to fight for them), this series is a must-read.

I am continuing to enjoy this series! This volume is a fantastic continuation of the first, diving deeper into the laws of this world and the history that led to this society’s battle over books. The extra world-building really helps flesh out the stakes, making the Library Defense Force’s mission feel even more urgent and important.

Library Wars: Love & War, Vol. 1 by Kiiro Yumi
This story takes place in a future where censorship runs rampant, and libraries have become the last line of defense against government suppression. Enter Iku Kasahara, a fierce and passionate recruit in the Library Defense Force, an organization that literally fights to protect books. She’s determined, a little reckless, and incredibly relatable—especially for anyone who believes in the power of stories.
The characters in this volume are fantastic. Iku is strong-willed yet endearing, and her interactions with Dojo, her no-nonsense superior, are both entertaining and heartwarming. Their dynamic is filled with tension, humor, and the kind of slow-burn romance I live for. Meanwhile, the rest of the Library Defense Force brings personality and camaraderie to the mix, making the story even more engaging.
But beyond the action and romance, what really makes Library Wars stand out is its message. The fight against censorship is more relevant than ever, and this manga captures the urgency and importance of defending intellectual freedom. It’s thrilling, inspiring, and a must-read for book lovers everywhere.
If you love libraries, action-packed stories, and a bit of romance, Library Wars: Love & War is definitely worth picking up. I can’t wait to read more!

As soon as I saw that this manga is about people who protect libraries, I was like, "I HAVE to read this!" I love libraries. I’d live in one if I could. Seriously. Just give me a mini fridge and a small kitchen, and I’m good.

Bridge of Souls by V.E. Schwab
One of the highlights of Bridge of Souls was the growth of the relationship between Jacob and Lara. What started in hostility blossomed into a beautiful friendship by the end, which was both heartwarming and well-developed. Their dynamic added a nice layer to the story, and I enjoyed how they both evolved through their experiences.
However, the setting in this final book didn’t feel as richly explored as in the previous books, and it left me feeling like it had been somewhat wasted. The world-building, which had been one of my favorite elements before, didn’t shine quite as brightly this time.
That said, the story was still entertaining and satisfying in many ways. Schwab has set things up for future installments, and while she’s indicated that she’ll only continue the series if Cassidy’s journey has more to explore, I’d love to see her dive back into this world. There’s so much potential left, and I’m hopeful that there will be more stories to come. All in all, Bridge of Souls is a solid conclusion, but it’s the weakest of the three books, leaving me with mixed feelings but still plenty of hope for what could come next.

Bridge of Souls offers a fitting conclusion to V.E. Schwab’s trilogy, though it falls short of the high bar set by its predecessors. As the final planned volume, it’s certainly an enjoyable read, but it didn’t quite pack the emotional punch or intensity I was expecting for the grand finale. The stakes felt notably lower in this book, and the plot, while still engaging, seemed less intricate compared to the earlier installments. The adventure didn’t quite feel as involved, and I found myself wishing for a bit more to carry the weight of this being the last chapter.

BEASTARS, Vol. 5 by Paru Itagaki
Legoshi continues to be one of the most lovable, reckless, and determined protagonists I’ve ever read. His decision to just walk straight into the mob’s den with absolutely no plan—simply because they have Haru—was both absurd and incredibly on-brand for him. This dork has no survival instincts when it comes to protecting the ones he loves, and honestly, I respect it.
This volume had everything: action, dark and suspenseful moments, romance, and unexpected twists that kept me on edge the entire time. It was a rollercoaster of emotions in the best possible way. BEASTARS, Vol. 5 is hands down my favorite in the series so far, and I cannot wait to see what happens next!

Just when I thought BEASTARS couldn’t get any better, Volume 5 completely blew me away! This was by far the most intense, suspenseful, and emotionally charged volume yet. The stakes have never been higher, and that cliffhanger? Absolutely brutal!

Juno’s development is also something I’m keeping an eye on. She and Louis seem like they’re going to be fascinating opponents, and I can’t wait to see how their rivalry unfolds throughout the series.
Meanwhile, Legoshi faces his own internal struggles as he discovers the truth about Louis and Haru’s relationship. The conflict between his friendship with Louis and his growing romantic feelings for Haru adds even more emotional weight to the story.
With its stunning artwork, deep character exploration, and evolving tensions, Volume 4 is another strong addition to the BEASTARS series. I’m excited to see where the story goes next!

BEASTARS, Vol. 4 continues to build on the complex relationships and tensions that make this series so compelling. Right from the start, we get an insightful look into Haru and Louis' relationship, which adds new layers to both characters and their dynamic. This volume, in particular, sheds a lot of light on Louis, putting him in a completely different perspective. His character is becoming more intricate, and I’m eager to see where his journey leads.

BEASTARS, Vol. 3 by Paru Itagaki
The artwork remains fantastic, capturing both the intensity of the drama and the charm of the lighter moments. Speaking of lighter moments—the chapter about the chicken was absolutely hilarious! It was such an unexpected but delightful addition that had me laughing out loud.
One of the most intriguing parts of this volume was the introduction of the panda psychiatrist. He’s such an interesting character, and I’m really looking forward to learning more about him. His presence adds another layer to the already complex and morally gray world BEASTARS has built.

I continue to be impressed by BEASTARS, and Volume 3 delivers an exciting mix of tension, humor, and world-building. The conclusion of the turmoil surrounding the theater production was gripping, but what really stood out was the adventure outside the academy. Seeing the story expand beyond the school makes the world feel even richer, and the deeper we go, the more creative, unsettling, and fascinating it becomes.

Devils Kill Devils by Johnny Compton
That being said, there's still plenty to appreciate. The book is bloody, violent, and deeply unsettling, and for those who enjoy that kind of intensity, it will likely be an engaging read. However, it didn’t live up to what it could have been, and I found myself less engrossed than I had hoped. Still, I think it’s worth giving a try—especially for readers who enjoy thrillers with a dark, philosophical edge.

The story unfolds through multiple points of view, which works well in maintaining different perspectives on the chaos. It starts off with a bang—an exciting, gripping beginning that pulled me in right away. But then, just as quickly, it lost its hold on me. I can't pinpoint exactly why, but the sudden shift in direction felt jarring, almost as if someone swapped books on me mid-listened.

Yona of the Dawn, Vol. 8 by Mizuho Kusanagi
One moment that really stood out to me was Hak saying he wanted to show Yona off—because truly, everyone needs to see Yona. Her growth as a leader and warrior is inspiring, and it's thrilling to witness her transformation.
I also appreciate how the story presents both the protagonists' and traitors’ points of view. Su-won remains a fascinating and complex character, and I have a definite love-hate relationship with him. His actions make him difficult to fully side with, yet his strategic mind and motives add layers to the plot that keep me invested.
The mock battle and the introduction of the tribe generals were another highlight, bringing even more intrigue and excitement to the story. These new dynamics add depth to the world-building and set the stage for bigger confrontations ahead.

Another powerful installment in this beautifully crafted series. The story continues to balance hilarity and emotional depth, making for an engaging and heartfelt read. One of the highlights of this volume is how the relationships between the characters grow stronger, deepening the bonds between Yona and her companions in a way that feels natural and meaningful. Now that all the dragons are together, there's an exciting sense of unity, and Yona’s journey feels more determined than ever. Her decision on the next steps in her path adds to the intrigue, and I can’t wait to see how she continues to develop both mentally and physically.

I cannot recommend this series enough! Yona of the Dawn, Vol. 7 is a standout installment that perfectly encapsulates everything I love about this story: action, heart, humor, and a cast of characters you can’t help but root for. If you’re not already reading this series, do yourself a favor and start now. It’s addictive, it’s brilliant, and it just keeps getting better!
Yona of the Dawn, Vol. 6 by Mizuho Kusanagi
Yona’s heart-to-heart with Captain Gi Gan? Absolutely breathtaking—I actually shed a tear. Watching Yona grow into the leader she aspires to be is such a rewarding journey. Her empathy and selflessness ripple through everyone around her, making her an inspiring and magnetic character.
And now, for the highlight of the volume: CAN SOMEONE PLEASE CHECK MY VITAL SIGNS AFTER THE HONEY SCENE?! Hak, I’m begging you to chill—for all our sakes (especially poor Yona’s, because that girl is not ready for your intensity)! 😂
This series is truly something special, and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Yona and her crew.

Oh book fiends, this volume is hands-down my favorite so far! We dive right back into the port town where the Green Dragon resides, and the story only gets more gripping from there. Meeting his pirate captain was such a treat, and Yona’s quest to gather senju herbs to heal the crew added depth to her determination. The plan to take down Officer Kim Ji and his horrible acts brought so much intensity to the plot.
