chewed up percy jackson and spit it back out. more plot twists, which was fun! the end made me excited for the next book, so that's good. a 12 year old would probably love this books so, tbf, it's realistically fantastic.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 15%.
tried to get into this book 3 times in 2024, couldn't get past the first 70 pages. it felt like a struggle to turn 1 more page, it just wasn't worth it atp. a shame because i really enjoyed Vicious.

mixed feelings with this one. kinda feel like the plot was lost about 3/4 of the way through the book, but at the same time the ending felt predetermined.
so much to explore and reflect on about the exploitation of the poor and women, about morality and its role in religion, religious justification, governmental neglect. definitely a thinker book, but left me wanting closure.
