incredible, fun, couldn't put it down.

It's rare that I find a book that surprises me, that has twists that I didn't at least somewhat see coming. This one did though. Not only that but the book is well written, the characters are wonderful, the world is incredible and it just comes together so beautifully.

The book is dark, moody, and angsty, the slow burn pay off is great. I devoured it in under 24 hours.

I loved Oraya she was the badass, strong heroine I didn't know I needed.

I can not overstate how much I loved this novella. It was beautifully written. The plot and characterization so deep and beautiful that it didn't seem like a novella at all (even though I easily could've read a couple hundred more pages in here about Vale and Lilith especially about their research and their letters!)

I am obsessed with the Crowns of Nyaxia world that Clarissa has created, and am so excited to see how these character come into the rest of the series.

I really enjoyed this book. It was slightly predictable but in a raw honest way. It's real representation of mother and teenager daughter dynamics as well as the realities of grief was really great. As a family therapist I really liked that.

However, personally I just have an issue with underage sex scenes not being closed door. Yes teens have sex, sure but I don't want to, as an adult, read the details of it.

I picked this up as a free audiobook in KU and was pleasantly surprised by it.

This was a fun read. World building and plot left something to be desired, but tbh I don't think many people picking this up are reading it for the world building or plot. Just don't think too hard about the world and plot and you'll be fine. Maybe she gets into it more in future books in the series.

It wasn't what I expected. It's essentially a mafia romance very little actual fantasy or mythological elements beyond the character names. I don't normally go for mafia romance so I unexpectedly tried something new.

It's far from a slow burn if that's what you're looking for but the romance is great. It's pretty streamy but isn't as Dark as I anticipated.

Things I loved: Hades as a brooding but yet cinnamon roll, the emphasis on consent, its fast pace. Loved gender swapped Hermes and Dionysus. It's not a life changer but it was a really fun read.

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would honestly. It's beautifully written and I really appreciated the murder/mystery, romance, low fantasy, and intergenerational trauma healing vibes. I read it on audiobook and the narration is just excellent!

Lizzie is a frustrating MC, sometimes you just want to reach in the book and shake her, but I think that's kinda the point she's coming to terms with everything she thought she wanted in her life and everything she thought she knew. The secondary characters though make the book. I adored Evie!

I loved the ending and the epilogue. It was perfect.

As a mother of daughters, and a member of a nice long line of complex mother daughter relationships and trauma that I am consciously working to sever for my own girls, I felt this book deeply.

So, I've waited a few days to start writing this. Overall this is my least favorite of the Crescent City books. Despite my intense love of Ruhn x Lidia there were just so many plot holes, and everything was just "too convenient". There were several secondary plots that just went on and on and on and then ended up being irrelevant. The book definitely has some great moments but as a whole just fell flat for me. It also just didn't capture my attention the way other CC books have.

Also without spoiling anything, I was disappointed with the ending. It was abrupt and despite some minor side plots really leaves no real tension to build off of for future books. Very ACOWAR-esque in that. Also like ACOWAR the timelines here are so weird, apparently this book takes place in just over a week! Woah.

However, I love Ruhn and Lidia with every fiber of my being and I need more of them stat. I also really enjoyed the background lore and thought SJM did a good job with the crossover while still keep the integrity of the two series' as separate entities.

I will forever read anything SJM writes, but this book just isn't the top of my list of things she's written.

Loved this, devoured it in under 24 hours. What I disliked about Neon Gods Kate delivered here in spades. Still some plot holes and weird world building questions and such that just aren't ever explained (hence the 4 versus 5 stars) but man was this a fun read.

Psyche was an incredible protagonist. Relatable and real in ways you don't always see. Fierce and smart, and refreshingly plus-size. Also the diversity, and gender and sexuality affirmation in Katee's books are just amazing.

Eros, the tormented MMC with a rough and tough exterior but he really just wants to be loved unconditionally. I ate it up.

The smut here is excellent. The mirror scene is just exceptional.

I read this as a brain break from some complicated epic high fantasy series', I was looking for something fun, sexy, and just a tad dark but without being heavy. This delivered it in spades.
