Debatable plot, hot sex

Let me start off by saying that I finished reading this book in less than 48 hours, so OBVIOUSLY I liked it.

It was entertaining, witty, hot. All in all a fun read, ESPECIALLY if you're here for the sex scenes.

However, if you're looking for something with depth or character development, this is not the book for you. The plot is predictable to a fault and at times reads like the script to a bad movie.

Pacing is all over the place, sometimes making me want to skip pages of uninteresting descriptions, and other times making me go back in confusion because events happened so fast I thought I'd missed a paragraph or two.
The plottwists are as cliché as can be and the main male character is Problematic (kudos to the author for pointing that out right  at the beginning tho! So I'm not holding that against the story)

I still give it 4 stars because it's one helluva fun and entertaining romance story. Angry hot man falling for happy hot girl? Hell yes.

In summary: a flimsy plot, but sometimes flimsy is all you need to carry on.

I genuinely enjoyed this book. It is well written and carries a whimsical vibe with it.

Each story comes with its own wonderful world, its own lessons and its own characters.

My biggest (and only) gripes are that the pacing is sometimes off; we'd be leisurely meandering through a story at some point and the next hurtling through the plot at neck breaking speeds. Only to end up at my second gripe: abrupt endings. On one hand it adds to the mystery and whimsical feeling, but on the other hand the abrupt endings can be quite jarring.

So all in all a great book with only a few minor gripes. A recommendation if you like mysteries and fairy tales.

Love love love love love. Reading this almost made me wish I was an elderly person spending my time solving murders.

Richard Osman has hit the exact right tone for a delightful murder mystery. I've shed tears both of laughter and of sadness. Very well done!

Super fast read! This book was fairly well written and a super interesting premise. I loved reading about the different worlds and the characters. The pacing of the story does feel a bit off though. The beginning is leisurely and enticing, doing a great job at an interesting introduction, but then it just rushes off head first, getting ahead of itself without giving the characters any time to develop. That, and there's a lot of exposition that I would've loved to have seen actually worked out in the the story instead of just having it stated.

The ending seems a bit rushed and leaves me with a lot of questions that will hopefully get addressed in the second book. The interesting setting and characters are what's making me grab the second book in this series.
