Another read for my research lollll but I thought this provided a good foundation for understanding the rise of the Arab American left. Learned lots of new info about the history of Arab organizing in the u.s. but I wish the author engaged with the history past chronicling its timeline— a more in-depth critique and analysis felt to be missing. also wish it continued and analyzed its pitfalls since, esp bc before oct 7 23 Arab American organizing outside of the basic non profit social service model has, from my view, disappeared

shoutout to reem for letting me lend the advanced readers copy sunny gifted her… honestly can already say this will be the, if not one of, top reads of mine for this year. aber’s poetry background is very evident in this, every word carefully chosen and holding up the rest of the book in its own way. I hope she writes more fiction bc this was incredible.
