I wanna be this cool one day 💔

I’m genuinely so fascinated by eve babitz for being able to capture a certain atmosphere so vividly, I’ve never been to LA but rn I feel like I have???

Also the writing style in this is the perfect mix of introspective and witty and I had sooo much fun reading this, I gotta read more of her stuff

Incredibly gruesome and disturbing, this genuinely made me consider becoming a vegetarian.

The premise of this book is SOOO interesting and I think that the author connects capitalism to cannibalism so brilliantly.

Even though the book already delves into many compelling concepts of its dystopian world, I feel like they were only scratched on the surface, which kind of made me wish that the book was longer.

The concepts of sexism and slavery in this were so interesting but the author doesn’t rly do a lot with them which is such a shame 😔

Also I’m so surprised to find out that people didn’t expect the “twist” at the end, to me it’s been so obvious throughout the entire book who the victim of the story is 😭😭😭 (why tf would it be marcos he’s a horrible person)

“Very early in my life it was too late” 😭😭😭

Easily one of the most beautifully written books I’ve EVER read, however I don’t know if that makes up for the fact that I am incredibly disturbed by what I just read!

The fact that it’s semi autobiographical somehow makes it even worse 💔 like what

great critique of the way capitalism and the patriarchy affect our modern perception of love,
however it felt a bit surface level at times, I think that bell hooks could’ve gone more in depth with the points she makes since they’re really interesting
