Charlie and Nick are still precious and, good people of Goodreads, I hope you won’t judge me when I say that I will be “stealing” Volume 3 from a student tomorrow

“Borrowed” this book from a student while he was in Spanish/Math and marathon-read it. I’m loving how Nick and Charlie are such great models of healthy/unhealthy communication. They ultimately end up having the hard convos with each other and it brings them closer together every time. The mentions of mental health and how Nick approached that convo is GOALS. Can’t wait to steal the 4th volume from a student tomorrow

This novel explores the intersections of justice with maleness, violence, “serial killer culture,” victimhood, and “the systems” that make all of these things cyclical.

4 stars because I HATED the second person voice for Ansel. Even though I think that was the point? To put as much space as possible between the killer and the reader in order to feel closer to the victims? Idk but I just hate second person

3.5 but rounded down. I loved the combination of action, enough gore to make me squirm a little, and lots of girl power. It was super enjoyable, but mainly plot driven and my character-focused self would have liked to know more about each BA woman of the killing squad. Also, as far as characterization goes, I also would have liked to see more unique descriptions and jokes. A lot of the jokes were too easy and depended too much on old lady/female stereotypes. I definitely enjoyed some quirky details, like the way they communicated while laying low from their attackers, and how the story all comes together at the end.
