I really enjoyed much of this book. I think parts dragged on a lot and that’s what took me so long to finish it (topped with life’s natural busyness). Nonetheless, I found Natsuko very lovable and I grew more fond of the story in book 2. It’s definitely not a plot heavy book but the mundanity of her life and the way the story is written is very enjoyable.

Feels good to actually read a book, enjoy it, and finish it after almost a month!
Didion has a remarkable way of writing characters and I don’t think I will get sick of it. This was gross, grimey, but so good. Do wish there was less slurs tho
