Thanks to Netgalley for gifting me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really wanted to like this book, I really did. It had such potential but it fell flat in so many ways. I pushed myself hard to try and finish it but it took me ages.
The synopsis had me hoping for a kickass witchy assassin vibe but the character development and world building was lacking and all over the place.
It did however have wonderful representation and felt that there could be massive potential.

This one was incredibly hard to read, not only because of the story line but because of all of the pain throughout the story. It was painful to read how miss-informed, judgmental and downright evil some people can be. How a mother can sacrifice her son to a conversion camp because of her own fears – fears of being judged by a churchy small town who are so backwards in their ways its borderline tragic. I read this book feeling so angry, and sad, so sad. Adam did an amazing job at telling a story that is so true it could have been a true-life story. Its 2020 and this madness still exists in society where it shouldn’t have a place anymore. There were parts in this story that had me shook to the core, its real, its gritty and needs to be read.
After Conner gets pressured to come out to his mom all hell breaks loose, kidnapped by the Reverend of his small town and shipped off to a conversion camp on a Costa Rica island, a mystery needs to be solved and escape is on all the campers minds. We see bonds formed and friendships made, comradery and fierce connections between the characters I fell in love with.
There is a trigger warning for a reason, there will be parts that are extremely hard to read. But it’s the realness that makes this book worth reading. The writing was exceptional and Conner’s story was told in an absolutely brilliant way.

A tale of sisterhood, survival and lies. I really and truly enjoyed this book. It had twists and turns and kept you on your toes from chapter 1.
Blue, Birdie and Honey are sisters who have prepared for the end of the world their whole lives and who would have known that the end of days prep would have turned out the way it did?
It was a really unique story that had my mind racing trying to figure out what would happen next at every turn of the page.
You manage to fall in love with each sister who are each so unique, artists in their own rights. Honey, the eldest who feels the constant need to protect her sisters, who loves to paint. Birdie, middle sister who has fallen in love with a boy who goes missing and Blue, my favorite sister who is true to her name with her cobalt blue hair who loves to embroider and constantly quirks mysterious omens (which turn out to be all accurate in some way or another).
Of course there has to be a bad guy, there always is. Who plots a nationwide disaster just to prove a point. I felt like this plot line was a bit mhe, honestly it could have been executed better and felt a bit like an afterthought.
This book takes you on a journey of fierce protection, sisterly love and a mother who even though misguided was trying her best to keep her girls shielded and protected from the outside world.

This was a really sweet graphic novel. The illustration style was fantastic, it had a really French flair that I just loved. The cats had to be my absolute favorite thing about this novel. It was humorous and real and fast paced. I also quite enjoyed that it wasn't in a typical comic book format but rather flowed organically. Great little story!

I had such fun reading this book, it had all the things you'd expect from a Queer YA romance, coming of age story.
I really did not expect the cancer story line, but it held so much purpose that it kinda made the story a bit better. Please note that there are triggers such as death, grief, homophobia and pressure to come out.
I felt that the bits about the background to their summer fling was lacking and wished that there were more parts about what happened during the summer.
I also loved the amount of support and love from both boys families, the fact that neither were shamed and shunned was great to see.
Also i loved some of the side characters more than the main characters and the development they went through. Gotta love the self discovery and realization of who they want to be.
All in all, a cute, real book.

Wow, I had such fun reading this little book of great self-help tips to help you live a happier life. I found the artwork to be my most favorite part about this book. It had such a cool vintage style that I absolutely adored.
The tips, mantras and practical excises makes me want to actually apply the teachings rather than just reading it and putting it aside and forgetting about it. The writing style was also quirky and funny and I had a serious giggle or two while reading it.
Quotes and sayings I loved:
“Ensure you have a good support network of female friends. Nurture those relationships by spending time with them and enjoying their company. If your schedule is busy, make a point of touching base with a quick text or phone call to find out how they are.”

“ You are the queen of your world, even if you don’t always feel like it.”

This has to be one of the most confusing books I have ever read. There were points in this book where I wasn't sure what was going on and had to repeatedly turn back pages to find where I had lost the plot. Needless to say this was not one of my favorite reads this year. Please do not be discouraged, there were parts of this book that were beautifully written and it felt whimsical at times, but it just was not enough to make me love this book.
