Honestly, I’m surprised I’m rating this 5 stars. The beginning was so captivating. Things began to stall as the timelines continuously changed and a lot of details and plot points were added. A lot of things didn’t make sense or felt unnecessary until the end. The ending was a really good way to wrap things up nicely and answer questions that came up throughout the book but it was a very wild ride to get there.

As someone who loves Bridgerton, this book is so satisfying because it gives similar vibes. The book centered around an affluent Black family so it’s nice to see a different take on an era that typically doesn’t highlight wealthy Black families

I found this book hard to keep up with because of the different points of view and different timelines. I feel like at times it made it so I lost sight of the purpose of me reading the book, finding out what happened to Ruthy

I feel like I enjoyed this a lot more than the first book since I know the characters more now. The plot was developed well and I didn’t expect the plot twist to be as satisfying as it was. Overall a great graphic novel.

This book feels pretty mid to me. It wasn’t horrible but I also didn’t enjoy it. It took me so long to get through this book simply because I found the synopsis interesting but the execution disappointing.

I feel disappointed by this book. It wasn’t terrible but fell flat to me. In the beginning it was interesting but then the issues the main character had overshadowed the rest of the plot. The ending had a plot twist I wasn’t expecting but it didn’t outweigh the fact that I didn’t enjoy the book as much as I thought I would.

I loved this book so much. Beat & Melody made such a cute couple. This was also my first holiday romance and it felt so cozy to read around Christmas.

The beginning of the book didn’t really interest me. The writing is a bit flowery and not straight to the point at times. The last 25% of the book was where I started to become a lot more interested and finally saw the plot coming together. The ending hit me hard and was the most enjoyable part, but I can’t get over the difficulty I had trying to get through the beginning and middle.
