I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer by Michelle McNamara

So very good. I’m so sad McNamara passed before this book was complete. She was a talented author. Her prose jumped off the page.
I couldn’t put this down.

“We are a sick, fucking toxic, Möbius strip.”
That one line sums up this book. Crazy, but entertaining.
3 stars I definitely wouldn’t say this was my favorite but it definitely left me questioning what the heck I was reading the entire time.

The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix

2.5 rounded to a 3, just to be nice.
I wanted to love this book, especially with the throwbacks to Salem’s Lot, but it just wasn’t that great.
It’s getting rounded up simply because the vampire lore in this is incredibly unique and gruesome, but what could have been so good, just didn’t hit the mark.
What was far more terrifying in the book was the gaslighting, but that bothered me so much and it seemed like there wasn’t a resolution to it.

They Never Learn by Layne Fargo

So far fetched, but so good.
The way the author combined the real life campus rape culture with a serial killer was actually such a refreshing narrative.
I love that the author’s profile is that she writes thrillers about angry women.
This held true for this book.
Twists, craziness, over the top, and I couldn’t put it down.
There were minor issues but none that I would ding this for. I loved it.
