Last Best Hope by Madeleine Roux

This was definitely my least favorite of the trilogy. I can't say what, but this book had me dragging my feet to read it. I'm interested to see if another book is in store for the danger club because I definitely think this is a fantasy book for middle grade readers.

Fun and cute! I thought Legends and Lattes was better but I still enjoyed reading this.

Oh I loved this. This felt like a shopping session of D&D and I'm going to need to read all of the cozy fantasies next year.

Kiki's Delivery Service is one of my top Studio Ghibli movies so I was super excited to get around to reading this. And overall it was cute and fun. I definitely prefer the movie plotline more than the book (the book doesn't have as strong of a plot) but it was still a fun story about a young witch finding her way.

I wanted to love this, but I feel like there was just too much going on. I wish the alcohol plotline started when she was in NY and was one of the reasons she had to return home but since it popped up several chapters in, it felt like it's only driving force was to reconnect her with the love interest. I also wish we saw more interactions between her and the baseball team because their relationships just felt super flat.
An Illustrated History of Notable Shadowhunters and Denizens of Downworld by Cassandra Clare

If I hadn't gotten this as part of the Seasons of Shadowhunters Kickstarter, I probably wouldn't have picked it up. Overall it was fine. I loved the illustrations and seeing which flower was matched to which character, but there wasn't much to it. I would have loved more insider tidbits about the characters and while we got that for some, others were just random facts. I'm also wondering if it was a typo or if I'm missing something because for Julian Blackthorn, it had his mother's family name as unknown while the rest of his family had Rosewain. It's been a while since I read TDA but I don't remember that ever coming up that he had a different mother. There were a few other things like that I noticed but that was probably the biggest one.
