Apprentice to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer

This was far too long and it was clear the plot was not fully flushed out before writing began. So disjointed, too many time jumps.

This had such potential. The bones are there (albeit, very familiar bones) but the writing and execution are not there.
Also - betrayed by everyone she trusted, in love with the light haired ruler, while she secretly harbors feelings for the dark haired shadow man??? OH NO I WONDER WHATS GONNA HAPPEN IN THE NEXT BOOK.
Sigh.

It gave exactly what it needed to give, no more and no less. Some of the writing was cringe and repetitive but overall not bad for my first cowboy romance.

This jumped the shark in a big way but I still had fun so it all evens out
Under the Mistletoe collection by Alexandria Bellefleur, Ali Hazelwood, Tessa Bailey, Alexis Daria, Olivia Dade
3.5
Average rating across all 5. Would have been higher without Tessa Bailey’s contribution.
My main takeaways: the MMC in both Ali Hazelwood and Tessa Bailey’s stories were creepy as hell and almost irredeemably so. There are far too many people willing to throw caution to the wind regarding protection with sexual partners they’ve just met. I wish that two of the stories didn’t have FMCs with the same first name. I have also learned that I cannot read romcoms where the MMC has the same first name as my son.

I definitely wanted a more satisfying ending but this was cute.
