This was good!! A story of sisters, a story of not fitting in, a little mystery, a little magic, a lot of heart and grit in these characters. The audiobook was well read.

I really liked this book. It has a fairy tale like quality set in the real world. A story of sisters, loss, expectations, and disappointments.

I liked this book, each chapter one story from Isaac's long life. Aside from one of the early stories, I didn't find the events of Isaac's life very strange. The characters were all great, I especially enjoyed Isaac's sister Aggie. This story works particularly well as an audiobook.

I've been meaning to read more Louise Erdrich for quite a while and this did not disappoint. Great characters and story!

This was a pretty good book. Three characters, in three different time periods, each one felt unique, all of them experiencing some sort of abuse, sharing the Weyward lineage, an affinity for the natural world, plants, animals, bugs. The chapters alternate between the three throughout the book. The character Kate felt a bit naive to me, and at the end of her story, which I think was meant to feel like a culmination of her entire story, I was sort of confused how her abuser arrived so fast and then it was just over. Violet was my favorite character, a plucky young woman, considered a but unusual, who dreams of being a botanist. She's also a bit naive, but she felt more believable to me. Violet's story is an all around unfortunate and upsetting situation, but I wanted to stay in her portions of the book. Altha's story was the farthest back in history, during witch trials, and her story was the most interesting to me. I think this book would make a great TV show!

This book is told via stream of consciousness as the narrator lays awake in bed the night before she is to give a speech. There are a lot of ideas and anxieties on display and it worked very well in audiobook format.

A character driven story (thriller?) of friendship, family, betrayal, motherhood, hungers of all sorts, loneliness. I really liked it and the audiobook is well read.

An interesting book, I listened to the audiobook and think I would have preferred to read it, due to the format of this book. It's not exactly a linear story, so I was a bit confused at first since all the artists in the book are just called "G". Themes of identity, art and being an artist, motherhood and womanhood.

This is a great audiobook!! Set during the early days of COVID on a cherry farm, a woman tells her grown daughters all about the summer she spent starring in a play at Tom Lake alongside an actor who would go on to be very famous. Ann Patchett is a great storyteller!

Good world building in this dark apocalyptic story. Interesting story and characters, very descriptive and a well read audiobook. I think I would have liked this better if I read it rather than listened, though.
