I am so very unwell. TID is absolutely the best installment in the Shadowhunters world. Jem and Will and Tessa will always been in my heart and soul.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 13%.

The plot is meh, the characters aren’t great, but dear god, the writing… If I didn’t hate the writing so much, I could probably push through. I have loved every Jay Kristoff book I’ve read up until now and I’m so disappointed. This was rough ✌️

Such a cute story! Though it's much different than the film, reading it makes me want to watch it again. I love short, whimsical stories like these.

I can't believe I devoured this entire series in less than six months. And the finale did not at all disappoint. Definitely one of the best fantasy series I've read and will one day, most likely, read again. I feel so empty but so full. My love for these characters will never end.

I hope after six books of torment, Clary and Jace can finally just be happy together.
This series definitely gets better with each book. I'm really excited to finish the series, as the last book is the only one I never read back in high school.

I tandem read this book with Empire of Storms and I can’t imagine reading it any other way. Not only was it a unique way to read, but it also made for a better reading experience. I cannot imagine reading EOS and ending on that cliffhanger only to then read TOD for 600 pages without Aelin or Rowan or the gang. Like I went into these books hating Chaol—reading an entire book about him was not on my to-do list. So I highly recommend a tandem read.
This book was less insane than EOS, and not quite as good, but I still enjoyed it. I’m afraid to say I was bored of Nesryn’s chapters until almost the end… And many of Chaol’s chapters put me to sleep, too. Yrene saved this book for me. I was so excited to see her make an appearance! She honestly made me hate Chaol less. (I’m still not his fan, but I don’t hate him anymore.)
With some more spice, a jaw-dropping reveal, and plenty of new (and returning) characters joining the gang, this made for a good read. And now—to the finale.

This book was insane. I was so nervous throughout the whole thing. I somehow grew love Lorcan (????) then hate him then kind of love him again; I loved Manon more than ever; and SJM even stepped up the spice a little bit. Overall such a solid addition to the series. I’m terrified to find out how it ends.

Listen, I'm enjoying this series - I really am. The writing and storytelling definitely get better through the series. But can we please leave Jace alone??? Like I swear in every single book Jace is going through something awful. After being literally possessed, why can't he be done now? Like why can't something horrible happen to Alec or Isabel or literally anyone else? Why can't I have more than 2 seconds of happiness for him and Clary??????
Anyway. Onto the next.

I'm not a historical fiction girly at all, so I wasn't immediately drawn into this story. But I'm determined to read all the Shadowhunter books, so I gave it a fair chance. I was surprised to find how engrossed in the story I had become about halfway through, and by the end, I adored it and cannot wait to read more. It's so strange going from The Mortal Instruments books to this series--the time period, the tone, the vibes, they're so different! I definitely think the writing is better in this series, but I do still have my gripes about Clare and her writing style. Luckily I'm more of a vibe reader than a critical one, and since I'm purely enjoying the story, I'm going to keep reading.
