Okay I admit the first half was pretty boring, but the second half completely made up for it. I was SCREAMING by the end of it. Even though I was gasping at the last few chapters, this biggest surprise is that I’m somehow a Rowan stan now. I’m excited for the next book, but I’m also absolutely terrified because I just know SJM has some horrible stuff in store for us… I’m not ready.

The beginning and ending were both so sad, which a bunch of sadness in-between. Like why did this whole book have to be so sad? If only Conrad and Belly could just say what they actually mean and feel, three whole books would not have been necessary. Honestly I'm Team Jeremiah. Conrad is just kind of a jerk. And Belly is also kind of a jerk. So maybe they deserve each other, I don't know.

Such a quick, cute read! Really makes me crave a beach vacation that I'll never get. I don't think I enjoyed it as much as Han's other series, To All the Boys, but I liked it more than I thought I did. And I'm excited to finally watch the adaptation!

Did I read this solely for the Snowbaz story? Yes I did. And was it amazing? Yes it was. (I feel a third re-read coming on...)
Most of the other stories were good, too, because obviously Rainbow Rowell is amazing. Quite a few of the characters you might even recognize from other books of hers. Definitely recommend.

I only love men written by women. All other men need to try harder.

Big improvement from book 1, I have to say. I honestly couldn’t put this book down. The love triangle? Chef’s kiss. The plot twists? Impeccable. The writing? Way better than the first book. I feel like book 3 is going to be a whole new experience and feel like a whole new series. I can’t wait to find out what happens next. That ending has me shook!!

I just could not get into this book. I read the first one and thought it was okay and really thought I'd be able to trudge through this one, but I can't do it. I don't even care how it ends. I'm giving up with no regrets.

So I read the prequel novel first and I’m really glad I did because had I read this book first, I might have DNFed it. The writing in this book is not great, and Celaena is insufferable…but at least the story was interesting. That’s what kept me reading, along with the knowledge that the writing gets better. And I’m really glad I already loved Celaena and know that her character will get better with the writing.
If the writing had been better, this would have been a 5-star read for me because the plot was perfect. I loved how I thought it would be one type of story and it turned into another. I was never bored and am already excited to read the next book.
Also I have such a love-hate relationship with love triangles and in this case I was so torn between Dorian and Chaol… Why do I love both these men with my entire heart and soul???? No one better harm either of them or I’ll lose it.

I am surprised at how much I loved this book! First of all, very thankful that Heather convinced me to re-read The Folk of the Air series last year 💖 And just in time! It was so nice to be back in Faerie World, even though it was through the eyes Suren, a character I had previously not known or cared much about. Obviously that's changed now, as I've grown to love her and sympathize with her. (Girls who have mommy issues stick together!!!)
It was a little awkward to see Oak through Suren's eyes, since the last time we saw him, he was a child and seen through Jude's sisterly eyes. But Suren is totally into Oak, and it felt weird at times. (Don't even get me started on the hooves thing.) I actually loved their complex relationship despite any weirdness, though, and they made for the perfect main characters of this story.
I will say I am SUPER bummed thatwe didn't even get a glimpse of favorite King and Queen of Elfhame, but perhaps they're saving that cameo for the sequel . I'm also ridiculously angry about the way this book ended: like, I get it, but also it made me so mad. I understand why Suren was so upset with Oak, but I also wish it would have ended differently. I hate that she feels like he's never been truthful with her at all, and that his affection towards her was fake. They better end up together in the sequel.. .
Overall, I had such a great time reading this book and am already desperate for the sequel.
