Just leave me here, I'll be crying for a bit.
I just finished this, and while I'm so happy to get a little glimpse into Adena's life, I'm also crying over the inevitable ending 😭

My only complaint would be the pacing, which is the reason I rated this 4/5 instead of 5/5.
Overall I adored this book and the plot, and characters, so another great win by Tehereh Mafi 🫶

If I had known going into this book that there would be so many modern day references, I'd probably have made it a bit further, but I made it exactly one chapter in and gave up. Within the first chapter we get TikTok and Instagram mentioned, and a sentence, talking about the difference between her and her love interest, saying, "Not only because I identify as a woman and him a man, or that I'm white and him black," and that made me feel really uncomfortable, it was completely unnecessary, and I'm not a fan.
Anywho, I'll see if I want to revisit this one day, knowing what I'll be getting into

See, overall, I didn't hate it, but I also didn't love it.
The plot itself was fine, though a bit predictable, there was no point where I didn't know what was happening, or I was shocked by anything. Generally speaking, it was very low-stakes.
Besides that, I found Sadie Wen to be a very obnoxious character. I wanted to love her emails, and her more hidden side, but itncame out sounding kind of deranged at times, and I didn't really feel any spark between her and her love interest.
My main complaint is Sadie's "flaw" being that she's a huge people pleaser and it became really annoying at times to read from her perspective, but that is completely my personal opinion as I've seen multiple reviewers say that that's what they loved about this book, but alas, for me, it didn't quite reach what I wished it would.

Besides these complaints, did I hate the book? No, I just saw a few flaws that outweighed the good at times. I still think this was an overall decent read, but not a favorite.

GOSHHHH!
This book has broken my heart, put it back together again, and then broke it again.
Monte Cristo is a rare book that puts everything anyone could want in a book all together.
I literally just finished it, and I'm not okay.
This book will sit with me for a very long time, I know that without a doubt.

This is one that will stay with me for a long time, between the whimsical magic, ti the folklore being built around you in such an impressive way, this book was a sure five/five, no doubt.

Did I love this book? Eh, yeah. Did I have some complaints? Also yes.

As much as I like the cheesy romance aspect of ASAP, my only complaints is that I wish it was faster paced, or maybe that something interesting would've happened in the slow parts to keep me interested. And it felt really repetitive at times.
There was a continuance of, oh we like eachother and should be together, to, oh, this'll ruin his career, let's not be together, and then back to liking eachother once again, and that did get a bit tiring at times.

Now despite all that, it wasn't horrible. Generally speaking, it was really good. A cute romance, with lots of tension, and flirting, and away from all the unnecessary drama, it was a very cute read.
