Silver Sparrow by Tayari Jones

I really enjoyed the twists and turns of this read. It expertly navigated the messiness of relationships and life and how many feelings are often involved in every moment of everyday. Highly recommend!
The Mothers by Brit Bennett
4.0
This plot was truly heartbreaking. It was interesting to read from competing perspectives and uncover who knew what and when. I really enjoyed the dialogue and the unique look into a black church community. There were so many issues touched on from suicide to gay relationships to abortion and sexual abuse. Highly recommend this winding story!
A Very Punchable Face by Colin Jost

I listened to this book on audiobook and it was AMAZING to listen to Colin narrate his own writing. His writing is hilarious and I loved everything he added in the audio version. Highly recommend this book on audio! Or on paper :)
Untamed by Glennon Doyle
5.0
Wow. Just wow. This book was everything. I needed this book, these ideas, this to confirm the feelings I have that I don’t know how to put into words or explain. I adore Glennon’s writing style, her humor, and her gentle way of telling us there’s another way. Highly highly recommend reading this book!
10% Happier by Dan Harris

Not sure if it was his personality that really grates on me or his voice on the audio book, but I really struggled to get through this book. It was basically a review of several books and ‘gurus’ that anyone really interested could jus read on their own without dans judgement. Not sure why I even picked this up.
Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie

Truly heartrenching. This was an extraordinarily written novel, eye opening and sad. Shamsie is an amazing author and I hope to continue to read within her portfolio. Highly recommend!
Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo
5.0
This is an expertly written novel. Highly recommend! I, like many others, do not remember the real plane crash that this novel centers around. The prose and the artistry woven by Elizabeth Acevedo is incredibly gut checking and creates a level of empathy known to all, especially those with sisters. One of the best books I’ve read this year!
Secrets of a Charmed Life by Susan Meissner
3.0
This was my first book by Susan Meissner and I doubt it will be my last! I was thoroughly surprised at how captivated the plot and prose held me. It was a great turning storyline, and while some of the writing was a bit basic, the rush to find out what happens and how kept me turning pages. Overall, a decent historical novel!
Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World's Most Dangerous Man by Mary L. Trump
2.0
An interesting read, I’ll give it that. Not exceptionally well written and a bit all over the place in terms of the timeline. It did give insight into what made Trump who he is, which is both alarming and depressing. Not sure id recommend this book, but it is a quick read.
