My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante
3.0
I struggled with this book, perhaps due to the translation from Italian or just the prose. In the end, it was an interesting piece from the perspective of a young woman growing up in Italy. It was interesting for me to experience her experiences, and there was many things that I learned. If I ever come across the sequels in this four part series, I may pick it up, but I don’t think I would go out of my way for them.

Well.... I finished it in one day which is good so I can move on to an actually good book. The only reason I gave it two stars at all is because the ending redeemed it slightly. It was such a slow burn to any hint of a plot that it just wasn’t worth reading in my opinion. I would not recommend this book at all.
We Met in December by Rosie Curtis

This is the perfect romantic comedy to read around Valentines Day. Rosie Curtis does a great job of pulling you in to the emotions of the characters. It is definitely a young adult novel, but it’s really nice to read something with a British tinge to the speech. Great light read!
The Trap by Melanie Raabe

I LOVED this book! It’s so artfully crafted, I was petrified and fully immersed in the characters the entire time. Melanie Raabe has such a knack for this unique style of toying with reality and perceived reality from the main characters perspective. Totally recommend!
Finding Home by Jackie Weger

This was an interesting one. The love story was clear from the start, but it seemed that the author was in a rush to get through it. Not the greatest but a quick read.
Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman

Really intense, quirky read. I found myself endeared by Eleanor, and her journey. Great read!
Before the Fall by Noah Hawley

Really good book, especially while traveling. It’s the kind of novel that catches your attention immediately and the slow unfolding of each character holds your attention until you finally get to the last nugget of the truth at the very end.
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

I really enjoyed this fantasy novel and quite immersed my self in Bilbo’s world! I haven’t seen the movies but I can see how they would transfer well onto screen. Tolkien has a very endearing way of writing, and I found myself very engaged! Highly recommend, especially if you are in need of diving into a different world than ours right now. On to the next one!
