Spoilers ahead

I never thought I would put these words on paper but here we are: I love Finn and Elora’s story and dynamic with such a passion I cannot explain that I found myself laughing, crying, and seething with rage to the point I actually slipped into Whitney’s DMs more than once to rage about the King and the step mother.

I am a huge fan of Zaven AND I still love Finn and Elora more!
Their journey begins at a ball where Elora arrives under the guise that she is to pursue the prince and trick him into marrying her, unbeknownst to Elora her evil stepmother has already made arrangements that changed the trajectory of Ashbury and the Cinder Fae forever.

Finn and Elora had such fun banter poking at each other in ways that are relatable and had me laughing in bed in the middle of the night.

Irina…. Oh Irina…. My sweet, bohemian, lover of love and all things free spirited, girl’s girl with a penchant for breaking and entering.
If you are ever to pick sides in a war, this is the first girl you pick.  She will make sure you live to tell the story.
Irina’s story is heartbreaking.  Her strength endears the reader to her even as you want to keep her at arm’s distance.  Her relationship with Elora and the way she allows Elora to just exist is just *chef’s kiss*.

Honora and Elora have sprinklings of these *moments* that shattered my soul.  As a child who desperately wanted a mother to love me, seeing Honora reach out to Elora as a mother just made my heart burst.  Honora is the mother figure we all love to see in a fairytale.
Would I like to see her $tab Jasper in the face? Sure!

Elora is the bridge for this family to begin healing and it is such a beautiful dynamic to observe as she continues to exist and exude all things kind and pure in the world.

While the Cinder Fae play a smaller role in this book, their roles were critical to the plot development and outcome.  I DID want to throw my kindle a few times while dealing with the fae and the things they keep secret.

The ending of this book will leave you gasping for air or if you know Whitney, saying ‘OF COURSE SHE ENDED IT THIS WAY!!!!’

After being emotionally devastated by the last book I read this was the exact pick me up I needed to get out of my slump!
I couldn’t put it down.  The adventure, the plot twists, the development of Iris from diving headfirst into everything to well she is still doing that but now with a cast of highly likeable characters surrounding her….. this was everything I needed and more from these two!

The epilogue came out of nowhere for me!  Like WHAT?

I felt highs and lows in this book.
Poppy’s letter at the end felt out of place especially for teenagers but I had to take several breaks while reading this book because the emotional damage this book causes is intense.

I have decided this is the modern day ‘A walk to remember’.

There is an enchanting warmth to Calamity as she explores the outside world for the first time.
Loric and his merry band of rebels is giving Robin Hood Men in Tights forest song scene (IYKYK). And throughout I found myself incapable of putting this book down.
If you want to read about shifters and world discovery through the eyes of someone who has never experienced the outside world this book will capture your soul!
