Voyeurism, persephone and hades, morally grey heroism standing against the perceived hero of every other story…. Count me in

I was REALLY disappointed in this book.
I loved cas and poppy but in this cas POV retelling it was like a book we never asked for.
There were some interesting pieces from Kieran’s life that added to his character development, but it felt very slow until the last maybe 3-5 chapters and then Casteel becomes a cave cat to protect his mate, poppy ascends and the entire thing just takes off into chaos again but in present day.

It felt like they maybe got to a point where they were like okay this is taking too long let’s go hurry up and bam poppy has crazy super powers, casteel can shift, wrap it up with some witty comment about poppy being happy to know she can shape shift.

I might be being too critical but the first half dragged then the last 1/4 was a race to the finish line.

This book was started before my brain injury and ended after.
I had to download it on audible to help teach my brain how to read words during speech therapy and I am SO thankful for these characters and this storyline.
Probably more-so now than before.
This is everything I ever wanted for Nesta’s character development.
Cassian is the loveable golden retriever archetype that fell in love with the emotionally unavailable archetype who is afraid of being bad at anything.

I cannot wait to see what happens with Lucien and Elaine

This was by far my favorite book of the blood and ash series.
Watching poppy come into her power, overcome adversity, meet her people, continue to navigate uncertainty while exploring her future that may or may not include war AND with her love interest and best friend at her side?

This was everything I could have wanted in the development of a character. The story had movement, introduction to new subplots, new characters, villains and memories of a life she vaguely remembers.

The main characters develop quickly, the details about their life are inferred based on situations that are explained and the story is rich from the very beginning.

I really didn’t think I could get into a huntress selling pelts but enter a high fae and I was sold on my first fae book.

I devoured this book and every book in the series after it.

I mean we all love Tamlin right?

It's giving outlander in a more modern day setting of Scotland meets Jack the Ripper.
The FMC breaks through every single barrier there is and is a true bad a$$ through and through.
You are getting dark magic, grave robbers, women fighting oppression, victorian era love stories, star crossed lovers and so much more!
This was a well written plot with the most intense high and low I have ever experienced emotionally from a book.
I was not prepared for the ending
I am excited to start Immortality now!

I keep going back and forth on my rating.
The amount of fluff in the series has kind of gotten to me.

I like seeing how the prophecy comes full circle and they start to put two and two together.
I like meeting her sister and seeing Malek’s character develop.

If you have a toxic mom trigger this will definitely push that button.

I got frustrated with the back and forth between Malek and Poppy’s sister, Cas’s character feels like he just stalled in his rage and poppy just kept using wind to level things.
Large portions of descriptions were copy and pasted throughout which lead to a lot of ‘huh?’ Moments.

Would I recommend this book? Of course.
Would I ask my friends immediately after for their honest opinion, yes!
I feel like the characters are sort of stuck or we need new characters to hate or cheer for at this point.

Sort of like sub plots or new objectives need to he introduced.

There is a huge amount of emotional infidelity that is taking place between Kieran and Poppy while Casteel is held captive. It gives me the ick.
Like Cas is just staying alive thinking about Poppy while Poppy and Kieran are sleeping naked next to each other, flirting and getting closer to each other.
Idk.
Between all of this, the plot stalls, the awkward joining
