I struggled for a bit with this book because it dealt with topics that were close to home but also I was frustrated with Yinka. But that was a personal problem. The book was nice, I liked the ending and who she ended up with and the fact that this book accurately showed that life isn’t a straight path or an easy fix. Her turmoils were real and raw; the heartbreak she faces, the mental struggles all were so real. I loved the representation of most Nigerian dynamics as a British Nigerian there were aspects even as a teen I related to. Yinka’s habit of lying to avoid disappointing her mum or getting a lecture from her mum was very real for me and I think in aspects Lizzie really brought it to life. I didn’t relate in as much as maybe others but I think this book is enjoyable but also deals with educating people on the hardships as a dark-skinned black woman or girl.

it was lovely no lie THE END WAS SO SWEET i loved the guys and the actually depth of characters besides plot and nathan’s beyond sweetness i just AHHHHHHH. Bree is one lucky girl NATHAN WAITEDDDD they were so infatuated with each other. It was frustrating at times when Bree was actively self sabotaging but other than that we love<3333.
personally i felt like it was not as i expected. I expected way more romance and obviously this is real life for women and abuse is real; it not a quick fix but for me the detail and length this went into the heavy topics like abuse is never something i wouldve prepared for. I felt uncomfortable at times and yh not for me being 62% through the book and it’s been droplets of romance.

it was honestly an amazing book. I love the way Garrett flirted it was so real and natural (I even found myself laughing and giggling at what he said) however it’s 4 because of the someone threatened u trope it makes me uneasy and it’s one of my least favourite but other than that wonderful read.
