Sutton Spencer has realized she is bisexual but the problem is that the thought of speaking to women scares her. When her friend opens an account for her on a dating app, she meets Charlie, who only wants flings and a relationship. Spencer convinces Charlotte (Charlie)into being her teacher, and the two begin a friends with benefits relationship. After so much time together, feelings were bound to change, but do those feelings change everything?
Why is this book so long?! While I appreciate the detailed look into Spencer & Charlotte's lives, I ended up skim reading on just about every page. Spencer was naive to a fault and could not manage a simple declarative sented when around Charlie and Charlie wouldn't see love if it smacked her in the face. By the time I finished, I felt overwhelmed and unsure why this book received such glowing reviews. This book was too long by about 200 pages and seems to last longer than some lesbian relationships.

During a normal flight, the pilot suffers a widow maker heart attack. Despite the crew's best efforts, the plane crashes into a nuclear power plant. For the first time, this was deemed a Level 8 event, the only one of its kind.  The world now waits with bated breath to see if they will become the next Chernobyl.

In typical T.J. Newman fashion, this is a thriller that grabs you from the beginning. A detailed description of what happened in the plane and what people on the ground saw were fantastic. The time spent inside the plant kept me engaged and interested. There are moments where the story becomes a little slow but it doesn't  last long. Newman really knows how to write a thriller that makes you want to keep reading.

Dorothy Gale is found in a field four days after the tornado that hit her family farm. When she tells everyone of her visit to Oz and how she had to kill the Wicked Witch, the townspeople think she hit her head during the tornado - until a local spinster is found dead with her face melted away. Dorothy is sent to a psychiatric hospital until a doctor takes an interest in her story and tries to discover the truth.

This is a fascinating take on what happened after Dorothy visited Oz. This is a dark interpretation of how the town dealt with the fantastical tale of Oz. It was a well-read story, although I didn't particularly appreciate how they portrayed Dorothy's aunt and uncle. Her uncle is portrayed as unloving to Dorothy and who wants nothing to do with her. The ending was well done and unexpected. I enjoyed this book - it was something out of the norm.

Breanna has traveled to NYC to spend the weekend with her boyfriend, Ty. On her last day in the city, Bre finds Ty's side of the bed empty. When she goes downstairs to find him, she realizes he is missing and there is a dead white woman on the floor of their Airbnb. As she attempts to find Ty, she realizes that his disappearance could have something to do with the missing woman that has been all over the news.

This has been on my TBR since it was released . The premise was just so intriguing that I had to finally read it. The story caught my attention immediately.  I loved Bre and Ty's relationship. I enjoyed following along with Bre as she tried to figure out what happened to Ty, and I was surprised with the twist towards the end of the story. I did feel Bre was a bit naive at times in her understanding of what was going on and her understanding of how people could behave in situations like this. This was fantastic as an audiobook and the narrators did a phenomenal job of bringing the characters to life.

Charlie and her partner, Eve, have purchased a large, old house to renovate. One day, when Eve is home alone, a man that used to live there stops by in hopes of showing his kids where he grew up. Against her better judgment, she lets them in. It quickly becomes clear that she has made a terrible mistake.

I don't understand the hype. I don't understand what in the world I just read. I was expecting a very different story. The people showing up unannounced and then taking their time to leave was creepy enough,  but then everything else was just too much and too confusing. This was not a book that I enjoyed at all.

Michael Housen is a regular white-collar worker until he is accused of clicking an email link that triggers a war against Iran. Quickly, Michael and his American-born Iranian wife are arrested for hacing contact with Iranian politica figures. Upon their release, Michael knows he must prove his innocence to save himself, his wife, and the world as he knows it.

This was a quick read now from Netgally that I grabbed based on the synopsis, and I'm glad I did. This was a fairly quick read with short chapters and an interesting plot line. There are hints into the author's political idealogy engrained in the story, and it will not be hard to read between the lines. One of the strongest parts of this plot was that it is not out of the realm of possibility and would be a horrible reality. The book ends on a cliffhanger and sets the reader up for a second novel, which I will definitely be reading.

Gemma arrived in San Francisco in 1906 to join a traveling opera and to spend time with her friend, who she finds has left town. During her time there, she meets Henry Thornton, who wants to be her benefactor and lover. When the history making earthquake occurs, secrets are discovered, and Gemma realizes she did not know anyone at all.

I started this one in print but couldn't get into it, so I decided to give the audio a chance. The story starts a little slow but is about a historic event I'd never read about - the San Francisco earthquake and fire of 1906. This is a single timeline taking place in only one two week period. It was interesting to learn about Chinatown and the people who lived there. There are a few romantic storylines throughout the book that were fun to read. It was an interesting book, and the audio was the perfect way for me to consume it.

Babara Van Laar is missing. As the county searches for her, they are reminded of another child who went missing yours earlier - her brother Bear Van Laar. As people of interest are questioned and detained, the police take another look into Bear's disappearance and realize the truth was never told and that solving one crime may help solve the other.

This book was a lot to take in. There were a lot of characters and at least 4 main timelines being used. It took some time, but once i was able to wrap my head around that, is when I was able to truly start enjoying the book. There was a lot of quiet family drama in this book that I was not expecting, but it added so much to the story. This was a large book, almost 500 pages, and it looks daunting when first picked up, but the pages fly when you get into the heart of the story.

A group of young girls are celebrating their senior year at the summer camp, Camp Pendleton. Their plans for the summer are thwarted when one of the girls becomes infatuated with a married tennis coach. When a compromising photo of the two is discovered, it changes the course of everyone's lives.

I've come to expect some very dark storylines from this author but this one was just okay for me.There are many topics touched on in this book as is the normal for Berry but the storyline seemed a but unfinished. The characters all have issues, which makes the reader either like or hate them. It was an interesting story that had me working to figure out the ending. I didn't expect the ending I received, which is always fun,  but it also left a lot of character's plot lines unresolved.

The Perfect Father: The True Story of Chris Watts, His All-American Family, and a Shocking Murder by John Glatt

On August 14, 2018, Shannan Watts, who was pregnant with her third child, and her two daughters, Bella and Celeste, were reported missing. As the police look for clues, they start to receive word that her husband is acting oddly. When the truth finally comes out, it is even worse than could ever have been imagined.

We all know the story of Shanann Watts, her beautiful children, and the horrible ways their lives ended, but this book provides us with a background of her marriage and the way it fell apart. Glatt has written several true crime books, but I felt this was unduly harsh to Shanann. While I'm sure she had her flaws, I felt the author tried to point out at every chance that she was "controlling" almost as it that gave her murderer just cause.
