Omg I LOVED the ball throwing challenge to get licenses. The first person from a different school who knocks out 100+ people right at the beginning had me stunned. AND LOL at the random two flirtatious women that the writer set up Deku to meet in this challenge??? The fact every UA wins is a gift.

An intense first volume — hard to be a girl being kidnapped and taken through time to ancient Turkey. The water physics are terrifying, more so than most horror movies. The prince is obviously a hottie, which makes the horror and spice great. Will read more.

G Willow Wilson and Chris Wildgoose's The Hunger and the Dusk (Vol 1) (June 2024 - ARC)

For a high-fantasy comic about humans, orcs, and climate change (and those driven mad by it), the art is really pretty: the colours! the beautiful landscapes! the clean action!

I loved the hot orcs more than the humans (!?) which is not surprising as I feel like G Willow Wilson does too. Their side of the story, their characters, their history is so much more layered and interesting.

This first volume is definitely fascinating enough to hook me in for the long haul. Excited to see where they take it!

Very happy conclusion to the can capitalism ARC. A little easy, but hey! That's this series. Glad Takemina joined them.

Okay. This manga has stolen my heart. These opening seven chapters are so well done!!! I learned a ton about Rokugo as an art??? The story is captivating??? Akane's motivation rocks??? The competing Rokugo apprenticeships are a great set up for the story??? I gasped in happiness when the mom revealed she knew the entire past six years. And the art is super clean and detailed. Nice, nice, nice.

My inner child enjoyed it! This manga remix of the first Pokémon game feels like I am seeing my childhood from a new, fast paced angle. The art is not lazy; cool pokemon are introduced as fast as possible. Everything feels larger than life, the same way life did in 1997. Larger themes are a little safe, but hey, it is for kids! Arbok gets literally murdered!

his series was never really about the story, it was about fashion, and hey, that is nice. Thank you so much to KFPL for sending it my way via interlibrary loans.

I love object lesson books, they are so thoughtful and strange. This one is so poetic about spaces and old technology.

Not to make a glib comparison, but I love  this for the same reason I love reading Peanuts - comics on childhood from a different decade and context from my own. And god this 1980s comic is bare bones and wholesome. I loved it???? The kid that loves heavy metal??? The chatterbox??? The chapter on jealousy???? It is so all so good.

Loved: All Might and Midoriya's mom. The dorm scenes and checking out everyone's rooms. Just all around a great volume to get to chapter 99 through.
