My Hero Academia, Vol. 10 by Kōhei Horikoshi

This is the best Bakugo has ever been (captured, defiant). Always fascinating when a villain tries to turn someone to their side, and this volume is no exception. All For One is a lot scarier than I anticipated to be honest! The series continues to be so engaging. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe my brain has just been rewired by the last 15 years to like superhero stories but hey, it is interesting.

Didn't fall in love with this collection — but god, there were stories I will never forget (people turning into tombs! the haunted train tunnel! the town where everyone bleeds! the secret balloons growing out of everyone!)

These children are always close to being murdered!!!! 😲 The book had an interesting theme, exploring how the child of dead superheroes may feel, how a real hero cares about emotional lives of traumatized regular people, the need for a person to inspire them, etc. but it does go back to status quo quickly. Very funny how the artist makes Deku do a "1,000,000 %" move to escape the horrors, and then immediately notes that he regrets it in his author note the following chapter lol. A testament to the chapter to chapter feedback manga gets.

There's something magnetic about a coming to age superhero school, even after the past two decades of stories. I am enjoying this series so much more than I thought I would be: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

BEAUTIFULLY DRAWN. Just so cool. The first chapter is unbelievable, just such a sweet examination of robot-hood, of personality, of free will. 🥺❤️ And the stakes are so high! The next four chapters are also perfectly laid out, it really feels like something special. I am glad Shonen Jump randomly dropped vol 1.

LOL. More gods the merrier. This second book mixes some Japanese deities into its Christian fanfic - the Exorcist father turned demon story??? He shoots an angel in the face?!?!? She regrows her face????? His dead mistress shrugs him off!? Zombies???? And then it jumps to a heartbreaking story about a cat who sacrifices their soul??? 😭😭😭

LOL TO BRING BACK AND MURDER A BELOVED CHARACTER IN THE FIRST CHAPTER. Amazing. Loved Chicken Little fighting the little lizards. Good book.

A series before WITCH HAT ATELIER! It is fascinating - a hot, loose version of Christianity mixed with other gods, like GOOD OMENS, but as a love letter to the world of fashion?!?!?
The Woman in Me by Britney Spears

Great audiobook, I appreciate that she allowed Michelle Williams to take it on.
Reading about how Britney was a child looking up to Mariah Carey. 🥺♥️ I forget that she was a kid with her own idols. And OMG I forgo celebrities are ~actually~ into New Age spirituality. 😅
I found Britney's mind fascinating - she defends some things that I never expected (creepy old photographers), and is so open and thoughtful about others (the way she talks about her sexuality and marriages is so unshamed, unbowed).
The best and the most tragic part; the postpartum chapters and the descriptions of what it feels like to be an artist whose cash is tightly controlled under conservatorship are sadder than I even expected and ridiculously well presented.

I love the weirdness of King; a coward at the top. This series continues to be a breeze. Fun, weird, moves faster than you expect.
