I'm so glad I read the books after discovering the series through the films. I am so in love with these books. The characters are so complex with real struggles, Roth does an amazing job of avoiding "good vs bad" and really explores the idea of good people bad choices and the difficulties of knowing what the right thing even is in such hard situations.

I cried my eyes out for the last several chapters!

I love the complex characters and that the book lives in the shades of grey of humanity. It's not a goodies and baddies, it's people making decisions and figuring stuff out. Even in a dystopian future, the characters are believable and their struggles are relatable.

I watched the films and had to read the books to find out what happened. Really enjoyed the first of the series, a really quick and easy read.

An easy, fun lesbian romance read that both leans into and subverts romcom norms.

This was such a fun, supernatural adventure! I really enjoyed it. Love that it's set in Liverpool and taps into the mythology of the city.

The characters are wild and yet relatable. The plot is equally wild yet somehow believable. I was so invested it it!

There were a few typos and grammatical errors but nothing that stopped me enjoying it.

Cannot wait for the sequel.

Lots of emotion, very moving. A little samey which is something I keep finding with modern poets who I love in other formats but in a book it just doesn't work for me sadly. I still loved the book and it helped me start to see a way through a very hard time.

Inspiring, validating, beautifully written and well researched book filled with not just advice but honest stories of Brené Brown struggling to live her own advice and struggling even to believe her own research.

Cannot recommend this book enough, it has changed how I interact with the world for the better. Made me cry every time I picked it up from feeling seen!

Absolutely awful. Badly written, several spelling errors and that's without even mentioning how terrible some of the stories are from a consent or real BDSM perspective. Gave my kinky friends and I some laughs and opportunities to discuss red flags and problems in the perception and understanding of kink though.
