The ending was not as fulfilling as I would’ve hoped, but it is very interesting and mysterious sprinkled with some hopeless romance

To date, this is my favorite book. I’ve never considered rereading a book until this one. It’s fun to watch the pacing and parallel storylines while rooting for the different scenarios to play out.

The retelling of Beauty and the Beast was magnificent and really makes you nostalgic, like rewatching the movie. However, where the movie ends, the book continues, and there is a stark contrast between how the characters are meant to be and how the author changes them. Belle, known for her maturity and wit, becomes a high-school cliche teen, while the beast, previously brooding and mysterious, matches the same energy. It’s like the book immediately flipped from a Beauty and the Beast retelling to a cliche love thriller for middle-schoolers. All in all, I wound up disappointed
