I read this at the same time as my boyfriend so we could both see just how bad this was and, where do I even begin? the writing was all over the place, there were grammatical errors, the characters were so bad. The worst of all was probably the main character: Zade. who the world thought was oh so perfect but she firmly claimed not to be. Whenever she entered a room, every straight white male had to just stop what they were doing and gape at this girl with may I say, "many-hued hair". Zade is just a recreation of the author herself, who wanted a story to be the star of her own story. I'm not joking, there was a movie intended for this book and Lani Sarem the author herself, was going to be Zade the main character. Moving on to other aspects, the stereotypes in this book told the readers how the author looks at the world. How every man has the same stream of thoughts, how they all like to look at a women's chest. How every girl likes to be the center of attention and only wants to go shopping. I don't know what she intended to go into the book, and at times I think Sarem didn't either. I think that can be shown at the moment where Zade is LITERALLY dying upstairs yet her love interest mac must be told the oh so romantic story of how Zade's parents got together as it takes around 20 pages and they seem in no rush. I read every bit of this book. down to the acknowledgment section (which was also all over the place) no wonder the second installment never got issued, it did not deserve it. The best thing that my boyfriend and I got from this book is the enjoyment we get from quoting all the awful lines in this book, they are quite memorable because of how horrendous they in fact are.

Do I recommend this book: Hell no, not even in the slightest, unless you enjoy hate reading.
Overall rating: bad, like really really bad.

Overall the book was okay, an easy read to get behind but not the most original plot. I think the thing that bothers me from this is the actual cover itself! it is so bad, and so unoriginal, otherwise, meh

I liked it, but I also feel like this side series is not super needed, I'm curious as to what will come next

Very cute, would like to contunie when I get the other volumes

I loved this book. Jay Kristoffs world building and story telling enthralled me again! I had to put the book down a few times because I know how brutal his is with his characters and I didn't want the inevitable to happen. I also loved how he collaborated with the artist Monolime and had such beautiful illustrations (I may be partial, as their work has inspired me for years now). I wish more authors did collaborations like this as it gave me more imagery to picture in my head what was happening in the novel. As always I cannot wait for the next in the series and I hope the next one can top this one!

I loved the way Madeline Miller dove into the characters and the storytelling in the first person. It made the reader feel as if they were there in the story next to the cast of characters, living through a greek myth. The writing fit the story as it gave a new perspective to a classical greek tale. As of right now I'm reading her other book and am also enjoying the premise. If you are a fan of greek mythos, I highly recommend this for you

Madeline Miller spins the classic greek tale of Circe into a beautiful new light. The reader gets to experience the perspective of Circe herself and how she comes to be the sorcerer that many around the world know her as. This book was a delight to read and a refresher in my preferred genre. not only was it engaging but gave the reader a different perspective on greek tales as they usually follow the journey of the male hero and paint the females as damsels in distress. Madeline Miller's words transport the reader into the world and it feels as if you are almost there, experiencing the events firsthand. As an easy and intriguing read, I recommend this book to all even if you are not familiar with Greek lore!
