While I had been optimistic about this book and had high hopes, I feel I was let down by the book. The story itself had an interesting concept, a harry potter-Esque magic school except for more danger and higher stakes. However, the Author chooses to make the world-building and magic system complicated for no reason and no logic. It didn't seem that difficult to understand at first, but it didn't feel like Noami followed their own rules or didn't tell all of them until halfway through the book. She would add little snippets along the way that felt too long and unessecary. Additionally, the main character was far from likable; even as the plot progressed, I was more interested in the side characters' stories than the main girl! El was mean, rude, and not likable, making It a more difficult read to get through. I was going to rate this two stars originally, but it redeemed itself a little bit with the last few pages to make me bump up the rating. I don't know If I'll read the second installment but by no means am I racing to buy the next book.
I enjoyed Madeline Miller's short story Galatea. Only being around 50 pages, I thought it was a quick easy read. Since it was short as it was, I don't have a lot to put behind this review. My main complaint for me was in the beginning how there wasn't an in-depth background setup, so in the beginning, I was a little confused and what mythos she was exactly referencing. Nonetheless, I did enjoy it overall as I adore her writing.
I have a love-hate relationship with this book for many reasons. I love the world and the exploration of it. However, there were a handful of things to me that shifted in a way less to my liking from characters to pacing to "plot".
I didn't mind the focus on Nesta, even if she isn't one of my favorite characters, I liked to see her version and viewpoint of her struggles and what she was going through. But compared to the other books that are in feyres point of view, of course, the characters are going to be viewed and their opinions differ, I knew that going in from what I had heard from others. My biggest complaint was how Cassian was actually written. Going back into the rest of the other ACOTAR books, his personality to me seemed to have a big shift which was something that irked me.
Another thing and I mean there's no way in hiding it: The sex scenes:
don't get me wrong I like my spice here and there, but there were certain times it seemed too excessive and out of the blue. Just the wrong moment wrong time for the shift, I think if there were less, or at least written better, I would've enjoyed the book a bit better.
the pacing for me was a bit over the place from being slow for a majority of the book to picking up drastically during the last 15o pages, and this book is big. I really enjoyed the fast-paced action of the end, but I wanted more of that in the beginning and in the middle! we got none of it!
Overall and okay book to the installation about a character I wasn't the biggest fan of, to begin with.

It's lonely at the centre of the Earth and depicts what goes on inside the head of Zoe Thorogood in the span of 6 months. This book isn't a light read and is difficult to get through at some points because it hits a little too close to home. Despite that, it is an amazing read and an abstract, yet accurate depiction of what depression is like for some. The illustrations are rendered beautifully in this anthology. I highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of story telling
I had high expectations with reading this book and I was left thoroughly disappointed. The High Mountain Court starts as your typical fantasy with a main female lead and a dashing male love interest. It tries so hard to be like other best-selling fantasy series that are out right now and does so poorly. The side characters aren't memorable or don't even go into their backstory/ personalities. I can't remember half their names if that tells you anything. The world-building could have been better, it seemed promising but never dives into anything above surface level. The writing I thought was rather poor and caught some sentence structure errors, which is pretty disappointing coming from a Harpers Collins imprint and not an independent publisher. The pacing of the book is extremely fast and the ending was so disappointing because the high point of the climax literally lasted 2 pages, and was extremely anti-climatic. I don't think I'll have any reason to pick up any of the other installments if they were as bad as this.
I also want to add I can't believe they let the horrendous quality of the map illustration fly. It is downright unreadable and ugly looking.

A Far Wilder Magic was a fascinating book to read. I loved the interesting story that the author wrote about the hunt. I thought it brought something new to the tables in the genre of YA fantasy. Albeit it did take me longer to digest this book than I wanted to because of the slower pace at the start. It took me a little longer than I wanted to be hooked into the book but once I did I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed the dynamic between the two main characters and felt it was nothing forced or over done in terms of the romantic undertones. I liked the overall plot and the buildup from start to finish. I do wish there was a bit more exploring of the world as it felt like we only got a little taste of what it offers. I'm unsure if the author will choose to explore this world more but if she does I believe it will be able to capture readers like me again. I also want to point out how lovely the cover is as it is done by an artist that I love so much and I think it fits the book perfectly.
