The story follows Sloan, a talented writer for a bridal magazine who finds herself heartbroken after being left at the altar. Just when she’s about to lose hope, she meets Wilder at a wedding, and their immediate connection leads to an unforgettable night. However, things get complicated when she discovers that Wilder is the son of the magazine’s owner and that their paths are destined to cross at multiple weddings. As their chemistry intensifies, hidden truths begin to surface.

What truly captured me was the dazzling wit exchanged between Sloan and Wilder. This engaging tale quickly pulled me in and kept me riveted until the end. The poignant flashbacks revealing Wilder’s troubled past shed light on his commitment issues, adding a fascinating layer to the story. Sloan's firefighter family brings an extra dimension to her character, enhancing the narrative depth. Although Wilder's friends play a minor role, the narrative beautifully focuses on how Sloan and Wilder evolve as they learn to trust and love again.

The narrators were exceptional, infusing the characters with life and emotion, making the experience truly immersive.

If you relish a captivating romance rich in witty banter, this book is an absolute must-read. I can confidently say it won’t be the last I explore from this talented author. Be sure to mark your calendars for its highly anticipated release on May 6, 2025!

I recently received this captivating book from @fairyloot and finished it in just 2 days!

Set in a mesmerizing England, citizens engage in a bargain with the immortal fae queen, in exchange for other talents. Ivy Benton, embarks on her debut season, determined to win the heart of the enchanting Prince Bram, the queen's fae son. Her ultimate goal? To save her family and rescue her sister from a troubling bargain. Unfortunately, the queen has devised a game for six girls to win the prince.  As Ivy collaborates with the brooding Prince Emmett, a dark conspiracy looms, threatening to unravel everything she holds dear.

The author masterfully constructs a rich world filled with intrigue, exploring the origins of the queen's immortality with exquisite detail. The love triangle involving Ivy, Emmett, and Bram is brilliantly crafted, pulling at your heartstrings. I especially loved the bond that develops among the six girls competing for Bram's affection; their unwavering support for one another is remarkable. The ending packs an unexpected twist that has left me eagerly anticipating the next installment!

Additionally, I listened to the audiobook on Libby, and the narrators brought the characters to life with their phenomenal performances. Their voices perfectly captured the tension and emotional depth of the story.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy, fae lore, romance, and a thrilling clash with an evil queen. It's an enthralling read that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

As an avid fan of historical fiction, particularly those set during WWII, I can proclaim that this one has exceeded my expectations.

Set against the tumultuous backdrop of 1939, we follow Sebastien, who escapes the chaos of Germany for the relative safety of England. There, he meets Finley, a spirited young woman with aspirations of becoming an actress. Determined to carve out her own path, Finley forms a theater group that becomes a sanctuary for a diverse community of friends. While the shadows of war loom ever closer, Sebastien wishes to rescue his family from the storm brewing in Germany. Their love story unfolds beautifully against this backdrop of conflict, chronicling the harrowing advance of war and England’s subsequent declaration.

The journey of Finley and Sebastien is nothing short of riveting. The author skillfully interweaves the lives of Finley, her mother Isabelle, her brother Christopher, and the vibrant ensemble of the theater group, creating a rich tapestry of friendship and resilience. Simultaneously, Sebastien’s family’s plight adds profound emotional depth to the narrative. The author ppoignantly captures the harsh realities of life during wartime, both for those in England and for refugees like Sebastien, evoking a heartache that feels achingly real.

The theme of found family shines brilliantly throughout the story, beautifully illustrating the powerful bonds that form between the Finley Players and the families of both Sebastien and Finley.

This remarkable novel had me utterly captivated from start to finish.

Set against the backdrop of 1865, it follows Charlotte and Henrietta, the daughters of a Chief Justice from Massachusetts, and the Pennsylvania-based book dealer brothers, Nicholas and Nelson, as they embark on a journey to England. Their eclectic group seeks to meet Sir Francis Austen and delve deeper into the life of his illustrious sister, Jane Austen. Along the way, the sisters experience the complexities of love, heartache, and enduring friendships they make aboard the steamship.

The writing is nothing short of exquisite. The intricate details woven throughout, regarding Jane Austen, Sir Francis Austen, and the legal systems of both America and England, are simply phenomenal. The storyline ensnares you, holding your attention as we accompany the sisters on their journey. I found the discussions in the book club formed by the justices, centered around Jane Austen's work, to be thought-provoking and insightful. The exploration of women's rights in both England and the evolving America is particularly enlightening, with a blend of historical context and a legal case enriching the sisters' story.

The narrator's performance is outstanding, truly bringing the characters to life. His portrayal of the women is particularly admirable, and his accent adds an additional layer of authenticity that enhances the overall experience.

If you’re on the lookout for a compelling historical adventure infused with the nuances of Jane Austen’s life, this book is an absolute must-read. Mark your calendars for its release on May 6, 2025, you won’t want to miss it!

I found this one on the shelf at the local library and checked it out because I loved the first book, What The River Knows.

The Secrets of the Nile duology reaches a captivating conclusion with its second installment, where Inez embarks on a perilous journey to Egypt in search of the truth behind her parents' mysterious deaths. As she grapples with profound heartache and encounters dark magic, her uncle's ultimatum regarding her inheritance compels her to marry Whitford Hayes, his aide. Yet, Whit harbors his own secrets, secrets that will challenge Inez's ability to forgive and propel her quest for answers about her parents.

This concluding book masterfully picks up where the first book leaves off. The prose is stunningly crafted, and the characters are richly developed. Inez emerges as a resilient protagonist; despite facing heartbreak after heartbreak, she forges ahead with unyielding strength. The unexpected twist in her marriage to Whit adds an intriguing layer to the narrative. The integration of magic serves not only to heal but also to uncover vital artifacts, enhancing the story's depth. The historical backdrop is meticulously researched, providing a vivid context for the events that unfold.

I had the pleasure of experiencing the audiobook from the library, listening along as I read. The narrators, Ahmed Hamad and Ana Osorio, breathe life into the characters and settings with their compelling performances, making the experience truly immersive.

If you are a fan of historical fiction set in 1885 Egypt, with complex characters and rich storytelling, this duology is an absolute must-read! Both books are available now.

This novel is an absolute gem.

Their journey from Illinois is filled with challenges, and Haidie, disguising herself as a boy, learns the art of managing mules and the importance of forging a supportive community. Upon reaching Colorado, she uncovers the truth about their father and hatches a clever plan for revenge that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Haidie is a remarkable character—strong, determined, and resourceful. Alongside her brother, she encounters a vibrant cast of characters on the trail, each adding depth to their adventure with a mix of support and deception. The writing is beautifully evocative, capturing the grit and resilience of life on the trail in the 1800s, all through Haidie's insightful perspective. 

The book is replete with powerful female characters who refuse to be sidelined. Each woman is capable and compelling, proving that they can hold their own in a world dominated by men. The friendships that Haidie and Boots cultivate during their travels shine brightly, culminating in a thrilling caper that serves as the novel’s exhilarating high point.

The narrator did a superb job of bringing the characters to life with her tone and accents.

This debut novel is nothing short of captivating. We follow Arla, the personal assassin to the King of Hadalyn, who grapples with her shattered faith in the gods that have forsaken her. As vital shipments go missing and kingdoms teeter on the brink of collapse, she finds herself reluctantly allied with Hark, the arrogant ambassador from the very kingdom that destroyed her family. Their partnership leads to the unearthing of shocking truths that will forever alter Arla’s perception of her past and the world around her.

The characters are brilliantly crafted, drawing readers deep into their complex lives. The close-proximity storyline adds a tantalizing layer of tension, while the witty banter between Arla and Hark is sharp, filled with delightful sarcasm. Arla shines as a strong, determined, and fiercely independent character. I particularly enjoyed the dual perspectives; hearing both Arla’s and Hark’s thoughts enriched the narrative immensely. 

The magic system and the intriguing presence of dragons piqued my interest, although a deeper exploration would have enhanced understanding. The story wraps up beautifully, providing satisfying closure, so I don’t anticipate a sequel.

The narrators performed brilliantly! I was captivated by the distinct voices and accents they brought to the characters, effectively conveying the emotional weight of each moment.
