Monday’s Not Coming weaves a mystery that you can’t put down but left me feeling confused and convoluted at the big reveals.

A heartbreaking story of generations of Palestinians. While fictional in name, the truth of this book is but a glimpse into the lives, love, trauma and resiliency of Palestinians under and in spite of Israeli oppression and violence.

I wish a 3.95 rating existed for this book. I was unsure about it at first (takes awhile to get started, you’re thrown into the world with little explanation), but when it got going it had me hooked. Very existentialist roots and gave me a lot to think about, but the ending was so anticlimactic it made me a bit upset as it is marked as a thriller.

Maybe it’s supposed to be unsurprising that Altantsetseg is a double agent but the reveal came across so flat. I think we should’ve been more/as impacted by this reveal as by Dr. Ngyuen’s boyfriend being a point-five.
