I really really liked this story a lot and found it fascinating!

I wish I could rate it higher, but the pacing was a bit off for me. The beginning and middle was overall ok, but we got a lot of information jammed right at the end. I found myself having to pause and repeat parts to make sure I didn’t miss anything. There was a good amount of plot twist after plot twist. It was layered which isn’t bad, but I felt like I was reading a build up to a massive reveal and then it moved onto another point. And then later on returned to the reveal. The builds up were good throughout, but some moments I think the reveal then and there would’ve been good.

With that said, I enjoyed these characters SO much! Astraea is an amazing protagonist! I adored her! Nyte’s character I found so intriguing and even more once it’s revealed who he is. I had a feeling, but that reveal was good!

Also, I would like to give a shout-out to whoever decided to put a pronunciation guide at the back of the book. It was so helpful!

Lastly, I’m so excited to continue on with these series and see what happens next!

I really liked this one!

I loved that we finally got to see what happens when a Yeerk has a host! It’s so crazy that the human is still in there witnessing all that is going on, yet is completely not in control.

Decent read. Great representation of friendship and loyalty. They all found a place in their little circle of guys.

That was uh something…

1 star for the first half and 1 star for how gorgeous the artwork is and how good the audiobook is.

Now, the first half was SO good. I loved it so much! It had the perfect holiday story vibes I love for! And then we get to the second half… there was zero reason for the questionable kidnapping plot. We could guess it was Legend, but when certain actions were done we don’t officially know that? So it just read really really wrong to me. This was marketed as a light holiday fun read and that’s so misleading tbh. I’m so shocked that some parts of that plot made it past editing. It just felt so out of place and unnecessary. A steal Tella away for holiday fun plot would’ve been soooo cute, but alas we did not get that.

I’m really sad how I did not like this cause I adore this world and characters so much. Just went in a direction that wasn’t for me.

First off, if you read this I HIGHLY recommend listening to the audiobook as well. It’s a full production that made this an even more entertaining read. Every narrator is fantastic!

What a phenomenal graphic novel! I honestly enjoyed this a lot more than I expected I would! I was drawn into this story from the first page! I loved seeing an era of The Darkling we have never read about before. I think this being in a graphic novel format made it more entertaining. The illustrations are so detailed!

I really really liked the premise of the story, but I wish it was flushed out more. Topics were explained, but it also felt as things were not. Overall I got the idea, but branching it out more definitely would’ve helped.

I liked the concept of Cobbleside and Roofside giving that contrast between classes & how they’re treated. The characters were good and I did enjoy them. The ending felt very opened ended so I’m hoping there will be more.

I highly enjoyed Jay’s writing and how it flowed so nicely. I would love to see this story and world expanded further! A really good first novel for Jay and I hope to read more from him!

This started off pretty good, but unfortunately I started losing interest. The story seemed very stagnant for most of the book. We know Nick and Noel will end up together and I love a good slow burn, but this one fell short.
