Favorite of the series so far. Loved the love story, the side characters, the humor… all so good.
I’m so glad I took a chance on this book, my first by Christina Britton. I’ll definitely be reading her other work!
This is a fun and creative historical romance, with unique characters and excellent writing. The plot involves a group of women investigating an embezzler at a gaming hell, and their interactions with the owners of the establishment. Romance ensues, plus a fair bit of excitement and intrigue.
I did have some issues with the character development of the leads, and with the arc of their romance. Still, this was a fun and memorable read. The adventurous elements, sharp female characters, and witty lines reminded me of Julie Anne Long, Kate Bateman, plus maybe a touch of Joanna Shupe. The charming cast of characters leaves open many appealing options for possible sequels, and I’ll be looking forward to them.
