This was so good! I loved the Greek mythology with a little Romeo and Juliet thrown in there. I can’t wait for Timeless. Harlow was such a great character, I loved her so much. I loved the take on forbidden love and the relationship between Daphne and Ajax.
I loved this humorous, light, sci-fi adventure. Something about the MC calling the big automaton boss “bro” has me geeked out. I love her and all her quips. Plus, cats. Always cats.
I’m a fantasy fan but have never given pirates a try, so I was very excited to be selected as an ARC recipient.
First, this book provided enough adventure to satisfy the fantasy lovers with barely even leaving one town. That was impressive to me.
I adored Milo and Bellamy, I want a friend like McKenzie, and in some ways I felt I could relate to Katrina.
The story was beautiful, I absolutely love plots where the MC searches for answers, connects clues, digs through family history, etc. to break a generational curse. (The Book of Speculation by Erika Swyler is another water-based (lol) generational curse story that I’d recommend to anyone who wants more like FTT, though more witchy and no pirates)
I recently finished a book that ended in the most frustrating way in regards to the love interest, so I was SO satisfied with the ending of this book. The kind of endings I love, with enough of a cliffhanger to make you excited and impatient for the next book but without feeling like you’re being tortured.
I’m eagerly awaiting book 2, that ending!! (I hope we get to learn about Bellamy’s fate)
I’ll definitely be buying the physical copy to have it in my library.

The Daughters of Izdihar was well written and highlighted relevant issues pertaining to misogyny and police brutality. I did find it exhausting, though. It was just the misogyny in your face all the time and it felt like the fact that some people having elemental powers fell to the side, like it’s only been added to the story to fuel the misogyny themes and declare the book as fantasy. I just felt relieved to be done reading it. As a fan of The Poppy War, I don’t avoid difficult or triggering themes, but I’m hoping the next book in this series finds balance.
