Blessed: Experiencing the Promise of the Book of Revelation by Nancy Guthrie

This isn’t a book written to help you interpret Revelation, although it does in parts. More so is it a book that guides you through the deep meaning of the second coming of Jesus. His return fulfils the Old Testament prophecies, it was planned from the very beginning, it is GOOD for those who have faith, it is a call to repent and live in endurance for Christ!

There is so much more to the book of Revelation than we might think, and Nancy Guthrie eloquently draws out how we are ‘blessed’ to be part of everything that God is doing and will do to bring everything to its culmination.

Do not go through your life scared of the book of Revelation. It is not something to fear! And if you need that encouragement, read it alongside this book!

For a book I had never really heard of, it was captivating!
A wholesome, heartfelt, beautiful, artistic piece of fiction.

You follow Tom a sailor who only really knows the ocean and the way he can portray that through painting. His love for the beauty of his eye lands him in London where he meets Catherine. A story of torn love between two worlds, and what it looks like to live through everything the waves crash upon you.

I truly loved this book and would recommend if you’re looking for a novel that isn’t widely known, but has a wholesome vibe and romantic storyline, this is the one for you!

The second instalment of this series is even better than the first! With the assistance of the first book, your love for the main characters and the POV changes helps to draw you into this new mystery for the Thursday Murder Club and friends.

A faster read, and the plot of this one just has a lot more of that classic murder mystery to it. I definitely recommend this series if you want cleaner murder mysteries that are less thriller and gore esk.

Funnily enough I do not feel the need to read the next book right away, but I may come back to it in the coming months.

“It is sad that he is dead, but it hasn’t made me sad. And now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go and help solve his murder.”
The Thursday Murder Club [Richard Osman]

It was a slow start but well-worth the push to read through. This is a plot driven story set around four elderly protagonists living in a retirement home. If you ask me there isn’t a better setting for a club of four people to investigate old murders and ones happening right under their noses. I think despite it being a slow paced book, the author did well to keep it interesting small (1-4 page) chapters helped with this.

I appreciated that the end of the book was not what I expected and the extract from the next book made me keen to keep reading about this Thursday Murder Club.
