I enjoyed this book just as much as the others in the series. A poetic serial killer on the loose.  Suicides that are too convenient. And the most dreadful thing of all. Agent Pendergast is forced to have a partner.

He's back... Diogenes Pendergast is back from the dead, and he's a changed man! Or is he?
With Agent Pendergast dead, the house on 891 Riverside Drive is somber. Ms. Green, stricken with grief, has gone to live in her old quarters (the basement). Shortly after, though, things go awry. Poor Procter is sent on a wild goose chase. This gives Diogenes the chance to swoop in and sweep Ms. Green off her feet, telling her he's a changed man, confessing his love for her, and wanting their son to be with him, promising to aid her with her health problems. Feeling it's her only choice, Ms. Green agrees to go with him. Is Diogenes really a changed man? Is this a love triangle or a love square? And who wants revenge more?

A serial killer is on the loose. Not only killing their victims but taking their heads somewhere. All 3 victims are of a high stature. Including the daughter of a wealthy tech billionaire. What message is the killer or killers trying to send. Where are the heads? What secrets lie in the old asylum? Although I adore Pendergast books, I was surprised at this one. I was surprised in a sad way that I knew 'who done it' before the middle of the book. Still, of course, I recommend it.

A binge-worthy book with plenty of twists and turns. Meghan Michael is an ICU nurse, a divorced mother with a teenage daughter. When a patient comes in after an apparent suicide, Meghan is drawn to her and her family. This, coupled with running into an old high school friend, causes things to spiral out of control. Did the patient jump or was she pushed? Who is the random man stalking and attacking local women at night? And how far would you go to keep your secrets? All the answers lie within the ICU unit of the hospital.

Heather Baxter is a new wife to Tom and we'll to do surgeon, and also the new stepmother to his two kids Olivia and Owen. During a conference trip to Australia Heather tries to win over her step kids by having their father pay out the ass to go to a private island see some Australian wildlife. The Baxter family along with a Dutch couple head to this island in hopes for some good photos. Instead they are hunted down after an accident. Now Heather must use all her survival skills to get off the island and protect her new family. That being said, if I was Heather I would have bitch slapped both those fucking kids so hard they forgot their names. Also be warned the audio book had subtle sound effects.

I really enjoyed the first part of this book. I've been a Hook fan since Once Upon a Time, and this book kept that going. In the second half of the book, I enjoyed it, but not as much. I do plan on finishing the series.

Grab yourself a box of tissues for this one. Crying in H Mart is a memoir by Michelle Zauner  about the passing of her mother. She goes through growing up Korean American and wishing that when she was younger, she just looked American. The trials of going through teenage years and fighting with her mother. Coming home from college to be told her mother has cancer. Going through grief of losing her mother and trying to move on yet hold on to everything. Food plays a big part in this book as it was a big part of Michelle's life growing up. It hit home when she spoke of trying to make the same dishes as her mother and falling short. Or getting it close and all the memories it brought back.

Charles is asked? Forced? To watch his grandfather while his parents go in vacation. The days turn into weeks. The weeks in to hours. The hours into a drug induced nightmare. This would have been a 4 star book if it wasn't for the animal abuse. I can read about abuse of people with no issue but not with animals.
