I was really excited about this book—the premise seemed so promising. The first half had me completely hooked. The pacing was spot-on, and the banter between Tia and Agent Holloway was witty and charming. Their dynamic really drew me in. I also loved the small Princess and the Frog references, especially in the beginning—they added a delightful touch 🐸👑✨

However, as the story went on, it started to lose its momentum. The plot began to feel stretched, SO much was happening and it felt a bit rushed, making it hard for me to stay invested 😕

Despite the strong start and the appealing chemistry between the characters, the book ultimately fell flat for me. It had a lot of potential, but the latter half just didn’t deliver. If you enjoy fun dialogue, it might be worth a try. Also, make sure to check the trigger warnings before diving in ⚠️

This book was A LOT. I had moments where I loved it & moments when I was kindaaaaa annoyed and bored. This book was SO LONG. A lot of it seemed unnecessary. There was also so much going on at times- I found myself honestly a bit confused & overwhelmed.

I wanted more about Xaden & Violet than what we got too 😔

The ending BLEW. MY. MIND. & broke my heart…. & had my mind racing. Honestly like the last 75ish pages are absolutely insane and saved the book for me.

will be tuning in for book 3 when it’s released 🔥🐉

Rating: SIX STAR READ!!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez

"Sometimes I feel like the seasons could come and go and come and go, a hundred years could pass, a thousand, the ground could collapse under us, this house could crumble and go back to the earth, and we would still be standing here frozen in time, because every second I'm with you is eternal. I've never felt anything like it."
-Justin

SUMMARY:
Justin and Emma both have relationship curses: every woman Justin dates finds her soulmate after they break up, and Emma's relationships end disastrously. They decide to date each other, hoping their curses will cancel out. As they plan a summer fling in Minnesota, unexpected challenges arise, including Emma's toxic mother and Justin's sudden guardianship of his siblings. Despite the chaos, they start developing genuine feelings for each other, questioning if Fate has finally brought them together.

MY THOUGHTS 💭
Okay, first things first: I’ve got some major beef with whoever designed this cover. It’s seriously misleading, and they totally knew it! 😂 I mean, the synopsis, cover, and title had me thinking I was diving into a cute little summer romance. But let me tell you, this book is anything but your typical rom-com. It’s an emotional rollercoaster in the best freaking way possible.

Seriously, guys, this book had me giggling, blushing, laughing, falling in love, devastated, scared - you name it! I was on the edge of my seat until the literal last page.

I’m giving this a solid 6-star rating and would recommend it to anyone! Abby Jimenez knows how to write romance like nobody else, and I’m totally here for it.

I was completely invested in Justin and Emma’s relationship. He’s the epitome of “if he wanted to, he would.” Their love was unique and beautiful, but let me tell you, there were moments where I wanted to shake some sense into Emma (you’ll understand once you read the book).

Between their relationship, friends and family drama, this book kept me hooked. I loved how the characters persevered through it all (almost all of them 😅🤦🏼‍♀️). They feel like real people to me now, and they’ll definitely stay in my heart forever! 💕

“But I will not run. I wouldn’t be standing here if I’d quit every time something seemed impossible to overcome. I will not die today”
-Violet

“I would rather lose this entire war than live without you and if that means I have to prove myself over and over then I’ll do it. You gave me your heart & I’m keeping it”
-Xaden

SUMMARY:
Violet Sorrengail, a twenty-year-old slated for a quiet life among books, is thrust into the world of dragon riding against her will by her tough mother, the commanding general. With her frail physique and the danger of dragons rejecting her as a rider, Violet faces hostility from fellow candidates, including the formidable Xaden Riorson. As war looms and suspicions of leadership mount, Violet must rely on her intellect to survive amidst a web of alliances and betrayals at Basgiath War College, where graduation or death are the only outcomes.

MY THOUGHTS 💭
OKAAAYYYYY tell me why I waited so long to read this book!!!!!!!! It’s like Hunger Games meets Harry Potter.

This book gives you everything you’d want in a romantasy: drama, amazing characters, action, betrayal, romance, tension. I freaking ADORED this book!

Violet: one of my favorite female main characters ever. She is so brave & determined. She’s bets on herself over & over throughout this book- even when so many told her she’d never be good enough. She’s so inspiring 🖤 you can’t help but root for her.

Xaden!!!!!! He is a powerful & BRUTAL leader. I freaking love him. He only gets more interesting & better as the book goes on. The tension between him & Violet is just 😫❤️

The dragons were AMAZING! I freaking loved the banter. I never expected that I would be so invested in dragons but here I am 😅🐉

This book ends on a cliffhanger - so on to Iron Flame I go 🐉⚔️🏔️
