Weiner’s #metoo novel is very predictable, as well as completely implausible. Did I read it in three days? Also yes.

Fascinating, somewhat bleak.

Fun revenge plot, but there are power/sex dynamics between the MC and the man she is seeing that are described but never addressed head-on. Steamy sex scenes feel a bit copied and pasted.

A lot of these stories felt a little thin, but this was enjoyable nonetheless.

Surprisingly compelling; I think the title made me expect something a bit more twee. This was on my TBR list forever, and I’m glad I finally found it on the library’s digital downloads.

Did not expect to like this, given the time travel plot. And indeed, the section where Alice time travels and is figuring out what happened was not my favorite. But the last third of the novel redeemed it for me, as it shifts toward the Alice’s emotional connections to her dad and the other people who are most important to her.

Really predictable from very early on. The MC’s inability to recognize the obvious was incredibly far-fetched. But the sex scenes were great!

I’m not generally into Regency romance (and tbh didn’t realize that’s what this was when I picked it out at the library), but this was a fun read with lots of implausible situations and presumably anachronistic discussions of consent, women’s autonomy and gay sex.

Warm, witty, self-aware. Wish I had a book club to discuss this one with.

Historical fiction isn’t usually my jam, but WOW this novel is incredible. I’m in awe.
