This book had me on the edge of my seat and so anxious until the end. WHAT. A. STORY.

I enjoyed this book! It kept me hooked from the first page. The pacing was well done as were all the surface level and deeper nods to Shakespeare. The characters and their relationships were complex and three dimensional; they made you invested in the story.

I was kind of confused where this was going to go around halfway as it seemed like Richard’s death was “solved” and the main conflict was “resolved,” but the rest of the book unfolded like a typical Shakespeare tragedy.

Can you give a book six stars? Because I would give The Favorites six stars if I could. This book was phenomenal and kept me hooked from the first page. Definitely Daisy Jones meets ice dancing but with a way more satisfying ending.

My local library had the audiobook available so I went for it not knowing anything about the book or the author. Overall it was just okay - the characters were so so and the plot twists weren’t really anything jaw dropping but not super predictable. I feel like the ending was a bit rushed; one minute they were going through an incredibly detailed scene and the next everything is resolved? Also the main character was 1000% written by a man as there were subtle misogynistic lines and phrases which made me roll my eyes so hard I almost sprained my eye muscles.

Mixed feelings about this book. It was so good up until ~60-70% of the way through when it felt more piecemeal and eventually brought it together at the end. I loved the characters so much. Large Marge is by far my favorite.

Definitely needs a trigger warning about domestic abuse and violence.
