THE MISCOMMUNICATION TROPE UGHHHH. I really enjoyed this book up until 70% in when I realized how much of a miscommunication trope storyline this actually was. I would’ve given it 4-4.25 stars had it not been for that. I will say that it did have some depth to the miscommunication so not as bad but stilllll.
Outside of that, the book flowed really well and I enjoyed the past and present alternating chapters that built up the backstory and the current story for them to converge well. The characters were not necessarily three dimensional for me but had some personality. Macy and Elliot’s relationship was beautiful to watch unfold.
4/5⭐️!! Naina Kumar does it again with the sweetest romance novel. This was fast paced and if I had more time to read I would’ve finished this in one sitting. I loved both main characters and felt the miscommunication second chance plot of this worked well. The book is also on the shorter side, clocking in at 299 pages, which works because anything else would’ve been fluff and not necessary. Overall I definitely recommend!!
Overall I feel like I couldn’t follow this well, but I think it may be that I didn’t make the connection about the dream walking early enough. There were too many things happening but also I feel like nothing happened for the first 75% of this book? The characters in this book are so three dimensional though. The Ridoc one liners and the dragon banter was very well done.
5/5⭐️!! This book deserves all the hype it's been getting. It's beautifully written and the story flows very well to the point where I never wanted to put it down. The characters are multidimensional and jump off the page, conveying such a range of emotions to the point you'll be feeling all the feels. There are so many good quotes in this book that I could add here, but instead of reading the quotes please go read this book!
Also, as someone who was born and raised in Rhode Island, the details about the area were pretty spot on. My favorite quote, which tells me the author did their research, was, “Anywhere farther than thirty minutes in Rhode Island is a destination wedding.” Spoken like a true Rhode Islander.
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated
2.5
2.5/5⭐️ I was hoping I’d love this one more than I did. The format was unique and the writing and concept were great but the story felt like it dragged on (even though it was so quick to read) and the ending wasn’t as explosive as the other reviews make it out to be.
