Didn’t capture my attention and hard to get through. Characters were one dimensional and I wasn’t invested in their story.

Overall a cute story and easy read with some really funny jokes and one liners. It was a great palate cleanser from the heavy books I’ve been reading but that also could be why I felt this lacked the depth it was going for emotionally.

I would’ve finished this in a day if I could’ve. Amazing sequel overall. It kept me hooked from page one. I loved piecing everything together as it went on. So satisfying!

I really enjoyed this one! The magic system is unique and relatively easy to follow and the world building didn’t feel like it was dragging like in other fantasy books. There are twists and turns that keep you hooked. Looking forward to the next one!

This book was so incredibly emotional, but Kristin Hannah seems to be the queen of writing complex heartbreaking stories so eloquently. The story moved along at a beautiful pace to the point where it was really hard to put this down.

3.25/5⭐️ For the amount of hype this book has gotten I was seriously disappointed for a solid half to two-thirds of it. The book does a fairly good job of capturing the complex emotions around grief and love, but it did not need to be 448 pages. A lot of it dragged for me and the lengthy chapters put me to sleep at times. I feel like Peter’s storyline was way too complex to just be wrapped up the way it was and there was a lot missing and ignored to get to the end. Ivan’s storyline was more interesting to me and honestly the reason I finished the book. I enjoyed how we got Margaret’s perspective too and how it paralleled Peter’s thought process a bit. Overall a pretty solid read but a tad overhyped.
TL;DR Very long, lots of emotions, every single character in this book would greatly benefit from therapy.
