Uncanny Valley is a memoir that captures the disillusionment with the tech industry i have felt since i first started becoming aware politically. It showed the blatant cultures of misogyny, antisemitism, and, to a lesser extent, racism within tech start ups. It also takes time to discuss the ways the tech industry can be anti-labor. However I did not get much from this memoir. It did not make me think about anything that I did not already know and it did not teach me anything new. This is not a flaw of the memoir, at least not in my opinion, but indicative that it is aimed at an audience less knowledgeable about this topic
I want to put this books in the hands of any lgbt+ kid I meet but especially in the hands of Black lgbt+ boys
(The previous rating was a mistake. I do not rate poetry of this nature.)
Danez Smith's poetry style stands out among the poets I have read. I cannot wait to read more.
