Way too esoteric for me. I also simply do not like Rand's writing style. Her running theme of the individual is solely self-serving is another point of contention for me.
For those who want a real, unbiased look at the beginnings of the war in Iraq this is the book to read. Kind of carries more weight given the fact we are still there 10 years later. His writing is simple, easy to follow.
I LOVED the first 2 books in the series. This one, surprisingly, fell flat. It felt rushed and skipped a lot of parts. Maybe the publishers told her not to make a 7 book series, which easily could have been done. Ah well, the Hunger Games series is wonderful.
Twilight this is not. if you felt an empty place in your reading soul after Harry and the gang left Hogwarts, this might be your next series. I normally hate Young Adult fiction (with the exception of Harry Potter) because characters seem so ridiculous and surely I was never so annoying at that age. Hunger Games has more accessible characters however and the story is quite intriguing and actually relevant in this age of revolution and war. The stark reality of the future is at times unbelievably cruel and at others, completely inevitable.
This was favorite book of the series, hands down. There were parts that completely took me by surprise. The action was detailed but not bogged down. It's been a very long time since I've been able to get lost in a good book.
